“Miss. It’s past time to wake up.”

Viti’s voice rang out. She kept shaking my body under the blanket.

“…I want to sleep just a little longer.”

“No, you can’t. You have to eat breakfast.”

“I don’t want to eat.”

“Oh dear. Everyone’s waiting for you. Madam said to come out quickly.”

At the mention of Isabelle, my eyes snapped open. Seizing the moment, Viti snatched the blanket I was clutching tightly and tossed it into the corner.

My face was fully exposed in nothing but my nightgown. I tried belatedly to hide it in the pillow, but Viti had already seen me.

“…You didn’t sleep at all?”

“I’ll come out soon. Just leave for a moment.”

My voice came out hoarse. Viti didn’t try to wake me further and instead picked up the blanket she’d thrown into the corner.

Just as Viti said, I’d stayed awake all night with my eyes wide open. I’d bitten my lips hard to keep from crying, until they were torn and raw.

I struggled to sit up. I had so many things I wanted to ask Isabelle. Though afraid of encountering the woman, my feet moved slowly anyway. I changed into comfortable clothes and looked in the mirror to tidy my messy hair.

‘I want to dye it…’

Since dyeing hair is impossible in this world, maybe I should just wear a wig.
