Young Ivy lifted her heels and tiptoed as carefully as she could to avoid any creaking from the floor.

She had safely reached the thick carpet beyond the perilous stretch of wooden floorboards, yet she remained utterly vigilant.

Instead, Ivy crossed the sunlit room with even greater caution.

Someone sat in the armchair by the window—a diviner cloaked in black robes, his face hidden beneath a deeply pulled hood.

Until just a moment ago, he had been reading a book.

But now one of his hands rested on his stomach, the other beside his leg, and he moved no more.

Moreover, the breeze slipping through the window freely flipped the pages of the book resting on his lap, yet he simply let the wind do as it pleased.

He must be asleep, right?

The diviner’s lips, visible between the folds of his hood, were peacefully closed.

So young Ivy was certain he was asleep, and she gently bit her lower lip.

Then, like a feline predator eyeing its prey, she fixed him with a fiercely serious gaze.

One step, two steps. Ivy narrowed the distance with care, held her breath, and reached out toward the diviner.

Just as Ivy’s small hand passed his shoulder and was about to touch his hood—

“No.”

A gentle hand wrapped around Ivy’s wrist, accompanied by a voice laced with amusement.
