Tiendavis - For Perfect Salvation (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 14
Tower Lord.
Rohika Sedro.
Miel Sedro’s older cousin.
Owner of the Manyanya Tower and head of the noble Sedro family.
A figure of excessive power, holding not one but two positions each of which alone would place her at the pinnacle.
At the same time, she was the very person who had plunged Ivy—already distrustful of others—into utter misanthropy.
“Ugh…”
The moment Ivy saw the Manyanya Tower through the carriage window, she let out an involuntary groan.
It was the same road she’d passed through just days ago, yet today her stomach churned unpleasantly.
The reason was obvious.
Today, Ivy had to meet the Tower Lord.
The fearsome Rohika Sedro, seated at the very top of that tower.
“The area suspected as the serpent’s stronghold is a small town in southeastern Vis.”
From across the carriage, where Ivy was suffering from motion sickness, Deis spoke in a low voice.
“It lies adjacent to the road stretching from the Wind Valley—connected to Tienda—all the way to the eastern border. So even if the Tower Lord assigns watchers, we could still enter the town with a suitable excuse.”
As Deis explained Vis’s route, Ivy swallowed bile and nodded.
Then, in a worried tone, she asked,
“If it’s confirmed that I go down to Vis, how many guards will the Tower Lord assign?”
“A considerable number. In the worst case, she might even form an escort under the guise of protection.”
At Deis’s grim prediction, Ivy let out a pained “Ugh…”
Ivy, the tower’s precious asset, must never be injured, must never die, and above all, must never escape.
Thus, even if the Tower Lord permitted Ivy to descend to Vis, she would never allow her to go alone.
Meeting the count was merely a pretext; lifting the curse was the true goal. Having the Tower Lord’s people cling to her like burrs would certainly complicate matters.
So, gazing at the approaching Manyanya Tower, Ivy declared resolutely,
“First, obtain permission to go down to Vis. Second, minimize the number of companions as much as possible. I’ll do my best.”
Ivy’s face, as she went to meet the Tower Lord, was more determined than ever, and Deis felt a swirl of emotions at the sight.
Ivy knew precisely what she had to do—frighteningly well.
Even now, after becoming Tienda’s public enemy due to Count Laurel’s declaration, with her reputation plummeted and even her position as saintess hanging by a thread.
Though merely thinking of it must churn her insides, Ivy never once wavered or lost heart.
Thus, Deis sometimes couldn’t decide whether to admire or pity that look.
While Deis watched Ivy with conflicted feelings, Ivy suddenly spoke in a sly voice.
“By the way, butler. I’ve been thinking—going to meet the count right now seems like a really good idea.”
Deis tilted his head at the unexpected remark. Ivy’s eyes sparkled as she continued,
“Isn’t it incredibly pitiful? A saintess candidate venturing into a dangerous region just to soften the heart of that cold-hearted count. How do you think the nobles who’ve been hurling insults at me will react?”
Ivy began chuckling ominously, and Deis instantly wiped away the emotions that had weighed on his heart.
Ah, right—I forgot. This is just her nature.
Feeling lighter, Deis instead thought to himself:
Ivy Ariate’s cunning mind remains as sharp as ever.
.
.
.
The Manyanya Tower is magnificent.
No one knows who built it or how it was constructed. It soars with such arrogance that it overwhelms any onlooker at a glance.
At the same time, delicate curves tracing its silhouette lend elegance to its towering height, and salt crystals clinging to its outer walls glimmer white in the sunlight, evoking a sense of sacredness in those who behold it.
Thus, many praise the tower—but Ivy had never once considered the Manyanya Tower beautiful.
For while everyone sees only its height, the truth is that it is also profoundly deep, hiding a gloomy underground beneath its glittering white facade.
Knowing this well—and still tethered by a leash to that underground—Ivy could never possibly like this tower.
When the elevator reached the tower’s topmost floor, even the sound of sliding chains ceased.
“The Tower Lord is waiting for you.”
Servants standing in the corridor opened the elevator doors and welcomed Ivy warmly.
Trending
Ivy gazed down the vast corridor stretching before her.
Roughly thirty servants stood evenly spaced along both sides of the hallway. And at its end, rendering all those attendants insignificant, stood a single door.
The door leading to the Tower Lord Rohika Sedro’s office.
Taking a deep breath, Ivy crossed the corridor. When she reached the door, a servant standing nearby announced her arrival.
“Tower Lord, Ivy Ariate is here to see you.”
Until that moment, everything about the corridor had been solemn.
“Yes, come in!”
Yet the voice that actually came from behind the door was gentle and cheerful, as if mocking all that tension.
Thinking, “Still the same,” Ivy entered the office—and immediately covered her mouth and nose without realizing it.
“Ugh…!”
The moment she stepped inside, an overpowering fragrance flooded her senses, strong enough to make her dizzy.
Moreover, the Tower Lord’s already spacious office was packed so densely with colorful flowers that there was barely room to stand.
Overwhelmed by the dizzying profusion of blooms, Ivy faltered—when a voice called again from beyond the floral mound.
“Come in, come in! It’s a bit messy, isn’t it? Just clear a spot anywhere and sit!”
But when told to “clear a spot anywhere,” there was truly nowhere to clear.
Seeing Ivy standing awkwardly, a woman pushed through the thick pile of flowers and emerged.
Her lily-gold hair was neatly coiled, and though dressed impeccably in formal attire, she couldn’t conceal her innate flamboyance.
That woman was none other than Rohika Sedro—the Tower Lord who held Ivy’s leash.
“My goodness, how long has it been since Ivy came to see me first?”
“This is the first time.”
“Oh, really…? So I’ve always been the one seeking you out…”
Rohika greeted Ivy with a lively voice, then frowned slightly in mock disappointment at Ivy’s blunt reply.
But Ivy pretended not to notice and immediately changed the subject.
“You seem very busy.”
“Oh, I’ve recently taken up flower arranging as a hobby. It’s surprisingly fun.”
Though calling it a “hobby” felt excessive given its scale.
Ivy muttered inwardly, then recalled the Tower Lord’s past eccentricities.
Rohika had a peculiar habit of taking up various hobbies in grand yet fleeting bursts.
Once, obsessed with animal husbandry, she released livestock into the tower—only to tire of them quickly and cook every last one. Later, she took up sculpting by chiseling marble, but broke two of her own fingers and quit.
Her most recent endeavor had been cake baking—relatively wholesome—until she set the tower on fire and abandoned it just last month. And now, flower arranging again.
“Oh, by the way—did you eat the cake I sent you before?”
“Yes, I ate it all.”
“Oh my! Did Ivy really eat something I made?”
“No, the gardener’s dog ate it.”
At Ivy’s honest reply, Rohika burst into a clear, flute-like laugh.
“Our Ivy, your jokes have grown rather cruel.”
Scolding her in an affectionate tone, Rohika made Ivy force a smile.
She already knew it wasn’t a joke—so why put on such an act?
Watching Rohika act sweet while hiding her claws, Ivy felt oddly reassured.
Just as Ivy knew Rohika’s true nature, Rohika knew Ivy’s. Thus, Ivy didn’t need to worry about her curse making her slip into rudely honest behavior.
“I heard you’ve been having quite a lot of trouble because of the young master of House Laurel?”
“That’s true—but the biggest trouble for me is you, Tower Lord.”
Even so, being this blunt was a bit much.
Just as Ivy thought she needn’t worry, the curse promptly handed her a new worry.
So Ivy coughed awkwardly to feign nonchalance, and Rohika chuckled softly before continuing.
“You still seem quite relaxed. To me, the situation looks terribly grim. Montra will obviously side with whoever holds the advantage, and powerless Tuha will do whatever the nobles demand. With those two gone already—oh dear.”
Rohika paused mid-sentence, covering her mouth in feigned shock. Then, in a bright voice, she added,
“Our Ivy might not become saintess after all.”
As Rohika loudly predicted Ivy’s failure, Ivy quietly gritted her teeth behind her smiling lips.
Rohika, her eyes curved like a crescent moon, addressed Ivy.

“It’s alright, don’t worry too much. You can just live comfortably underground again, like before.”
As she whispered this, Rohika’s eyes gleamed with deep possessiveness. That savage desire, impossible to mask with a fake smile, made Ivy feel as if her breath had been cut off.
Sensing Ivy’s discomfort, Rohika brightened her smile again and changed the subject.
“So, why did Ivy come today?”
“I came to ask for your permission, Tower Lord.”
“Permission?”
“Please allow me to go down to Vis so I can meet and persuade Count Laurel.”
At Ivy’s bluntly stated request, Rohika’s eyes widened.
She stared at Ivy as if slightly surprised, then soon smiled deeply and murmured,
“Nice excuse.”
Rohika stepped closer to Ivy, then leaned in until their faces nearly touched, and whispered in a sly voice,
“Since becoming saintess is clearly out of the question… you’re not planning to run away, are you?”
Before Ivy could even form a thought, the curse answered Rohika’s interrogation for her.
“No.”
“Really not?”
“No.”
“What should I do? Must I be fooled by you again?”
Rohika narrowed her brows in mock distress, then closed the already minimal distance even further.
“You’ve already deceived me many times, haven’t you, Ivy?”
“No, only three times.”
“Three times is plenty, miss. You know I normally never forgive even once.”
Rohika laughed incredulously as she pressed Ivy further.
Ivy struggled to suppress her urge to step back, then opened her mouth.
“Tower Lord, I…”
“Shh. I’m the one speaking.”
But Rohika didn’t even allow Ivy a chance to explain.
“You run away even after I raise you so prettily, cause trouble despite promising to behave, and even recklessly place bets.”
Listing Ivy’s past transgressions, Rohika lifted Ivy’s chin.
Forced to meet Rohika’s gaze, Ivy found the situation excruciating.
Though green is naturally a fresh, lively color, Rohika’s emerald eyes were dangerously eerie—like a poison one must never touch.
Staring intently into Ivy’s eyes, Rohika continued,
“Ivy, I’m right here. You, who deceived me so…”
Her lips, now close to Ivy’s ear, whispered with her breath,
“…I truly adore you.”
What?
Startled by the unexpected confession, Ivy stood bewildered.
Then Rohika pulled back, her face once again bright and cheerful, and said,
“It’s entertaining. People like you, who never know when to quit and cling on till the very end—you resemble me so very much.”
“…Me?”
“Oh my, you’re showing your dislike far too plainly!”
At Ivy’s unintentional serious expression, Rohika burst into laughter again.
After laughing her fill, Rohika wiped her tears and said,
“I’ll permit you to go to Vis. Do whatever you like.”
Permission came abruptly. Though Ivy disliked Rohika, she quickly snapped to attention and asked,
“Th-the conditions?”
“What conditions?”
“Conditions like assigning guards to watch me.”
“Would you like that?”
“No.”
“Then I won’t. Go enjoy yourself.”

Rohika was suspiciously generous.
Seeing Ivy hesitate at this unexpected leniency, Rohika smiled and said,
“You know, don’t you? How quickly I found you after you ran away.”
The meaning was clear: no matter how far you run, you’re still within my palm.
Though Rohika’s confidence irritated Ivy, she had already gained everything she wanted, so she offered a proper bow and turned to leave.
But suddenly, Rohika called out to Ivy as she was about to depart.
“Oh, by the way—is Deis doing well?”
“Yes, he’s in love with his teacup every day.”
However much the curse compelled her, that phrasing was far too odd. Ivy felt a little sorry for Deis.
But Rohika seemed to interpret it as “doing reasonably well,” nodding kindly with a gentle smile.
“Good. Since I entrusted him to you so rarely, you must raise him well.”
At those words, Ivy nearly choked up without realizing it.
So she turned her body slightly to look back at Rohika for a moment, then smiled brightly and replied,
“Don’t worry—I walk him every day and give him treats. He’s being raised very well.”
At Ivy’s provocative reply, Rohika’s smile deepened, and Ivy turned away from that repulsive woman, slipping out of the Tower Lord’s office.
