Warm spring sunlight slanted across the space, filling it with light, and within it sat a man.

It was Sion Laurel, seated at a perfect angle, tilting his teacup.

Ivy watched, as she often did, his golden hair mingling with the sunlight, and realized it without any particular emotion.

Early spring already felt impossibly distant, yet even then, he had come to her just like this.

Back then, using social awkwardness as an excuse, he had arrogantly urged her to give up becoming a holy maiden—and to Ivy, he had still been a stranger.

Now, in late spring, Earl Laurel had returned to her once more in precisely the same manner as that day—no longer unfamiliar, yet still nothing to her.

The drawing room of the Ivory Mansion, where the two sat facing each other, was so quiet one could almost feel the weight of the sunlight.

Regrettably, it was the host who finally broke under the lengthening silence.

“The last guest at the previous mansion was you, my lord Earl—and somehow, you’ve become the first guest at this one as well.”

“There seems to have been someone who left earlier.”

“Lord Marquis Montra is certainly a welcome presence, but until just a moment ago, he held the keys to this mansion. So he surely can’t count as a guest.”

“I see.”

Sion nodded calmly and tilted his teacup again. Ivy, in turn, pretended to sip from her own cup while observing him.

Meeting again after only two days, Sion appeared meticulously composed in nearly every way.

Ivy had grown accustomed to his tousled hair, glasses, and casually worn shirt—but today’s Sion was dressed with aristocratic formality.
