The first time young Evie realized her own situation, it was through a saintess who had come from Tienda.
One day, the saintess had visited the city where Evie lived.
And so, many people came out to the square to see the saintess, who was smiling and waving from an open carriage.
Evie was in the crowd then.
But Evie was not looking at the gracious saintess, but at a little girl sitting next to her.
The girl, who appeared to be Evie’s age, seemed to have come from Tienda like the saintess.
She had a face quite similar to the saintess’s and was receiving people’s attention and cheers, dressed in very fine clothes next to the saintess.
For some reason, Evie couldn’t take her eyes off the child rather than the saintess.
Some nagging question captured Evie’s attention.
Why is she so different from me?
Evie suddenly became curious in that noisy street.
I always try not to stand out in other people’s eyes, so why is she so confidently in front of people?
Why do the adults, who were busy chasing me away when they saw me, greet her first and act like nice people towards her?
Pure curiosity captured Evie, and she only came to her senses around the time the saintess’s procession ended.
Ah, I see.
A girl my age can be treated so importantly too.
Just not me.
Has she ever starved? Has she ever slept in the streets, begged, or stolen?
Probably not.
Why?
Because she’s not me, just like I’m not her.
Because she’s different from me. I don’t know why, but almost everything is different.
Orphans in the slums naturally realize and accept this fate when they grow up.
But Evie rather harbored a new question.
It’s really strange.
If people are all born differently and live different lives, why am I here and you there?
Why, of all things, am I the unlucky one?
Evie couldn’t find an answer.
Instead, everything about that moment stuck in her mind, and she often recalled it even after time had passed.
That was the same even in the moment when twelveyearold Evie was panting and running.
“Over there! Split up and chase!”
Men’s shouts and curses.
The loud barking of a big dog.
The countless footsteps pounding the stone floor.
Evie was desperately running to escape all those noises.
And even as her breath was rising to her chin, she thought.
Ah. You, who are different from me, have you ever even imagined this moment?
Evie, who had escaped into an alley, found a collapsed wall and squeezed her body through the narrow gap.
Just get through here. Just get through here and they can’t chase me.
“Ah!”
But something bit Evie’s ankle. It was the hunting dog that had been chasing her along with the men.
Evie flailed without even having time to feel the pain.
But it stubbornly bit and pulled, and in the meantime, a man who had been chasing her pulled Evie out from between the walls.
“Wow, this wicked thing. Finally caught you.”
“Let go of this!”
The man kicked Evie’s side with an irritated expression, and his face instantly turned grim.
“You, damn it…!”
The man struck Evie down. And yet, as if his anger was not yet quelled, he raised his hand again.
What Evie felt then was not pain but shock.
That fierce shock made her head go numb for a moment.
As if body and mind had separated, it seemed that the person crouching on the floor and being beaten was not me.
So Evie became a nameless spectator, quietly watching what was happening to herself.
“Hey, take it easy!”
Another man shouted then.
For a moment, Evie woke up from that strange sensation.
“If you break a bone, it’s a headache. Why make what we’ve caught unusable?”
But at the man’s continued words, Evie slipped back into that drowsiness with a snicker.
Well, that’s true.
Everything felt ridiculous. The mood was somehow light and airy.
My body was trapped here, unable to move, but my mind felt as though it could fly anywhere.
Ah, would I be behind bars when I open my eyes?
If so, why must it be me?
If it continues like this, would it be better to just leave me be?
Evie was deep in thought.
A strange noise echoed in the distance of Evie’s ears.
The sound of lightning striking.
The sound of men shouting.
And the sound of dogs barking.
Evie couldn’t distinguish if the sound was real or a delusion.
She couldn’t believe the warmth of the hands embracing her either.
So, when Evie woke up again, she couldn’t easily accept it.
Lying in an unrealistically cozy bed, she faced the reality of meeting a gentle astrologer, like a lie.

Thus, about 8 years had passed since that lifeanddeath experience.
Evie was being tormented by reptilian beasts on the wind hills of Tienda for yet another revival.
“Steward, please do something here…!”
Evie exclaimed in panic.
Where Evie was, it was the westernmost cliff of Tienda.
On those green hills where the wind blew without rest, Evie, in her outing attire, was palefaced due to the bright red dragon looming before her.
The dragon was twice as large as a horse, and it was covered in vivid red scales, like the sunset.
My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband
This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.
The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.
They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.
In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.
When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.
She makes his life a living hell.
And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.
Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!
Intro
Dong Xia lost her memory.
Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.
Notes:
1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.
2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
