“It was a perfect response, Your Excellency!”
Moren cheerfully shouted unnecessarily toward Zion, who had returned to the hall.
Upon hearing this, Zion looked at Moren as if asking, “What are you doing?” and walked past him coldly, blatantly ignoring him. Even the subordinates, who hurriedly glanced at the scene, Moren was not upset at all.
‘Your Excellency, is it because of Lady Ivy that you are like this…?’
Instead of being upset, Moren had to bite down on the soft flesh inside his mouth to suppress the urge to laugh.
After the last flower festival, he returned with enhanced internal intimacy and outward affection towards the superior.
For the sake of the subordinates’ pride, Your Excellency personally warned the trash Cassell.
He sent this body to protect the pitiful Saintess candidate.
Our Excellency, who has been quietly watching Ivy.
‘Your Excellency, do you like Ivy that much? We liked her too. We went to see flowers together. I worked hard to help. But just because Ivy is gone, are you going to discard me like this? Your Excellency…!’
Moren followed behind Zion, inwardly complaining.
Perhaps it was because of the cheerful mood, Zion’s broad back caught his eye again. Even if you erase loyalty and admiration and look at it, he was truly a handsome young man.
So, Moren always felt regretful. Everything about that dazzling person who will be devoured by fate.
Moren knows the life of Count Laurel very well.
For the safety of the continent, they twist their bodies every month. Enduring to the limit, if a successor comes out, they barely escape from that hell. After that, they spend their remaining years in a comfortable life. However, in reality, like dolls, they wait for death in a splendid mansion, hollow inside.
The hero’s end was like burnt ashes, so Moren was truly sorry for Zion’s fate, which was about to step on that train.
However, contrary to Moren’s expectations, his superior was not caught in the constraints. Moreover, he showed a more unexpected side recently.
‘Your Excellency, you’re in love, right? You secretly met Ivy, right? I saw the secret passage in the room. Did you meet secretly like that? When did you become so close? What’s that last thing she said on the last day? Tell me. Let me know too, Your Excellency!’
Although he couldn’t reveal his true feelings, on the day of the flower festival, Moren was genuinely miserable. The stern gaze of the Supreme Commander, who was watching the girl from a distance, tore his heart.
However, when Ivy collapsed in the Supreme Commander’s bedroom, Moren was ecstatic for this tremendous turnaround when the Supreme Commander called him for her.
‘As expected, our Excellency, you were doing well in love!’
Even thinking about it again seemed to bring tears. So, Moren tensed the muscles on his face and entered the office with the Supreme Commander.
On Zion’s desk were the reports Moren had prepared in advance.
“This is the quarterly report on the border forces.”
Although he stayed up all night outside to break the typhoon and came back, Zion wanted to review a few things before resting.
So, suppressing fatigue, he unfolded the report and furrowed his brows.
“Oops, excuse me. It seems my personal documents got mixed up.”
As Zion made a puzzled expression looking at the wrong document, Moren explained as if he had been waiting.
“It’s a list of boutiques recommended by my younger brother. I asked for it to refer to when I have to give a gift to a single woman.”
Moren fluttered nervously, eagerly awaiting the Supreme Commander’s reaction.
Zion, with apparent interest, looked down at the document and then promptly burned the cheeky piece of paper in place of Moren’s body.
“Ah…!”
“It’s noisy, so get out.”
As Moren screamed in frustration at being trampled on, Zion muttered irritably. Under that piercing gaze, Moren bowed quickly.
‘Ah, Your Excellency. You’ve become heartless again right after parting with Ivy…’
But even this is love…
Although his soul was hurt, Moren stepped back with a feeling of flying away.
After chasing the lieutenant away, Zion touched his forehead and swallowed his irritation.
Sensitive Zion had been aware of Moren’s impure gaze from the beginning. So, wondering why he behaved like that, inserting a list of clothing stores into the report.
Zion decided to cruelly tighten the discipline of vigilance. Then he turned his attention back to the report.
Just as the Top Duke governs the tower, and the Grand Duke leads the Laurel Castle and his subordinates, everything here is under Zion’s rule.
The border monitors serve only Zion. So Zion didn’t bother hiding anything related to Ivy from Moren and other subordinates. Whatever they know, they will serve Zion.
The loyalty of the border was so firm. However, it was not originally like this; Zion personally built it over the past two years.
To completely make the monitors his own, Zion put in a considerable effort. Now that he has formed his own legion, he often thinks.
If they had been present five years ago, they would not have missed Ivy, he thinks.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
