Louisa looked extremely flustered.

It was startling enough to be suddenly shoved and tumble onto the ground, but even more shocking was the realization that the person who had pushed her was none other than her husband—someone she never imagined would be here.

Propping herself up with her hands, she sat up and spoke.

“Ed, what on earth are you doing here…?”

Her arms suddenly went limp from shock, causing Louisa to pitch forward and nearly fall flat on her face. Edward rushed over in alarm.

“Are you all right?”

He grabbed her arm urgently. Despite his rough movement, his touch was delicate—as if afraid she might break.

“I’m fine. I just couldn’t get my strength together because I was startled.”

Louisa, equally stunned by this sudden turn of events, immediately checked on her husband’s condition. Edward, kneeling on the ground with his knees bent beneath him, wore a dazed expression—as if his tension had finally drained away, leaving him utterly bewildered.

Louisa leaned closer and asked him.

“Are you all right? What’s going on all of a sudden?”

Edward finally snapped out of his daze at her question. With a start, he hastily tried to pull away from Louisa—but in his hurry, he slipped and landed hard on his backside.

Louisa flinched reflexively in surprise. In a small voice, she asked again.

“Ed. Are you okay? What exactly happened?”

To Louisa, the whole situation felt utterly bewildering—but judging by his expression, Edward seemed even more flustered than she was.
