Edward forced the tension from his face, careful not to let his expression waver.

Calling my request an “exorbitant sum” was utterly absurd.

Yet in the end, news reports were always distorted depending on whose side the writer favored. Edward’s jaw tightened faintly.

“For the same reason, reaching out internationally might prove difficult for you as well. And above all, His Royal Highness the Prince likely won’t stand idly by either.”

Evan shrugged his shoulders pointedly, openly flaunting his close connection with the prince. Edward ground his teeth in frustration.

“If you truly wish to resolve this matter, allow me to make you a proposal.”

Evan offered a perfectly amiable smile as he spoke.

“Divorce Louisa. In return, I’ll gladly give you the fifty million you mentioned.”

“Ha.”

Edward let out a hollow laugh.
