Having finished the day’s most important event, Louisa and Edward got into the car heading back to the mansion.

Normally, a celebratory banquet would follow the bestowal ceremony, but this time an additional notice had been issued that the royal family would host a separate banquet later. The reason given was that the case was not yet fully resolved—punishments for those involved and further investigations into the minor culprits were still pending.

“What a pity. I never expected the celebration in your honor to be called off like this.”

As the royal palace gradually receded behind them, Louisa voiced her disappointment. Edward subtly leaned against her shoulder and replied,

“What does it matter? I’d rather be alone with you than attend any such event.”

He actually preferred this. They had already agreed to hold a small, intimate party just the two of them as a modest celebration, and seeing Louisa attentively caring for him was far more satisfying than attending an exhausting formal party.

‘Still, since Louisa feels disappointed, I’ll have to insist they hold the banquet later—without fail.’

On that day, she would surely fuss over fitting me for a new ceremonial outfit, giving me her undivided attention for days.

That was what truly mattered—whatever they did, as long as Louisa was by his side.

Edward shifted restlessly, readjusting his uncomfortable posture. Seeing her husband, with his large frame leaning heavily against her, Louisa let out a soft laugh.

“We’ve arrived, you two.”

Corporal Robin Miller, who had been driving, turned around and announced. Lieutenant Maria Norris stepped out first and opened the car door for them.

“Thank you.”

The two, nearly worn out completely, stepped out of the vehicle. Louisa glanced up at Edward and said,

“There are still several people waiting to congratulate you, yet you already look exhausted.”
