Taking the faint light as comfort, Louisa continued to rouse her mind.

Her bound body was uncomfortable. Being tied up itself was difficult, but worse still was the inability to maintain a proper posture, leaving various parts of her body painfully bruised.

Louisa’s eyes met those of the man called Ravi. His gaze was no different from how one might look at a chair placed beside him.

‘Until yesterday, he’d occasionally leave his post, but now he never does at all.’

She quietly closed her eyes, careful not to provoke the man.

At first, he had clearly only been watching from outside, but things changed after Alyssa’s visit—likely to completely eliminate any chance, however slight, of researchers accidentally approaching.

Louisa tried to deduce her current location by recalling the layout of Edward’s research institute.

Since Alyssa had come here so naturally, it must be a place where researchers frequently passed through—yet also somewhere large enough to accommodate bulky cargo and where having a permanent janitorial presence would seem ordinary.

‘Perhaps it’s a storage room for research equipment.’

Looking at the room, deliberately designed to let in almost no sunlight, she grew more confident in her assumption.

‘If it were too remote, escaping would be difficult…’

Alyssa had once rambled on at length about how Westwood Institute in Tanasen handled more items than Allen Corp and thus had quite a few annex buildings scattered about.

‘But if Alyssa can come and go so easily, this place can’t be entirely isolated from the other buildings.’

Judging by their behavior, her very existence seemed to be kept secret even from the researchers stationed here. If she could find just the tiniest crack, it might be enough to pry it wide open.

Louisa carefully studied the man standing guard before her once more.
