It had been so long since they were alone like this. Though her body and mind were exhausted, Jung Hwa couldn’t possibly pass up such a perfect opportunity. She took a step forward, closing the distance to Seo Jun.

“Actually, this works out well. I had something to say.”

“Go ahead.”

That distinctive scent of his stirred Jung Hwa’s senses. Fearing this might be her last chance, she immediately denied her own involvement.

“It wasn’t me.”

“Then who was it?”

“How would I know? You don’t seriously suspect it was me, do you, Seo Jun?”

“Of course not. It’s not suspicion—I’m certain.”

“Why do you only believe Eom So Yeon? I was also a victim of Oh Min Jung!”

“And you expect me to believe that?”

A charming yet unsettling smile slowly spread across his eyes. But Yoo Jung Hwa knew all too well that expression carried no goodwill.

“What’s so unbelievable? Are you saying I planned to kill Eom So Yeon? That doesn’t even make sense! Why would I stain my hands with blood over someone so insignificant? What am I even lacking? Honestly, it was Oh Min Jung who did it!”

“Actually, no. It must have been you. I was the one who rescued Oh Min Jung—she was locked inside that room, completely immobilized. And among everyone else who’d been there, only Yoo Jung Hwa remained outside. How do you explain that?”

“Th-that’s…!”

Jung Hwa’s vision went dark for a moment, and her words stumbled out. The sudden, cutting question left her utterly speechless.
