I thought the large piano in his master suite was just for decoration. After all, I’d never once seen him sit at it—let alone play it.

But right now, Tae Seo Jun, captivating So Yeon’s eyes and ears, was proving otherwise.

Just what couldn’t that man do? I’d assumed only his fingers were pretty, yet his hands played the piano with remarkable skill.

It was just as Seo Jun’s first piece was coming to an end.

A waiter approached, pulling a trolley, and set a dessert plate on the table before handing So Yeon a bouquet of 108 roses.

Tucked among the flowers was a card, about the size of a palm.

Once the waiter left, So Yeon immediately checked the message inside. On the top half of the opened card, a memo written in handwriting similar to her own was laminated in place; below it was another note in different handwriting.

As Seo Jun’s piano music gently caressed her ears, So Yeon carefully read the card from top to bottom.

“Be happy, always and everywhere. I’ll share your sorrow and pain with you. I’ll become a happy person too. Mr. Tae Seo Jun… Goodbye.”

“This, this is…!”

Wasn’t this the exact note I’d left him the day we first met? He’d kept it all this time?

But that wasn’t all. On the lower part of the card was his reply to her message.

“Goodbye, you really like this, huh! All this time, my heart’s been burning pitch-black because of you, always running away—did you even know? What you took wasn’t my sorrow or pain, but things incredibly precious to me. And among them, Eom So Yeon was the most precious. I’m so annoyed I want to scold you harshly, but consider yourself lucky—thanks to Hyun Woo. So from now on, Eom So Yeon, just stay by my side and be happy. And I still have more to say, but that part I’ll tell you in person.”

Tae Seo Jun’s neat handwriting almost seemed to carry his voice. When So Yeon, eyes brimming with emotion, stared at Seo Jun after finishing the card, he had already risen from the piano bench and now stood before her.

“What is this—no, I mean, this note, I…”
