The elegant scent that reached her nostrils.
With the light that had been illuminating So Yeon now obscured by the tall figure beside her, she knew without looking that the man standing next to her was Seo Jun.
But So Yeon couldn’t lower her head or turn it to the side. Her eyes were open, but her vision blurred. Her body stiffened in its current position. Her breathing became irregular and heavy.
“…….”
Seo Jun, like So Yeon, stared at the poster without saying anything.
After all, what was there to say? He must have come here to avoid the crowd. He must have become indifferent to me, enough to not have a reason to walk away.
The two of them, standing side by side, looking in the same direction, were engulfed in a lengthy silence.
Then, suddenly.
“…….”
Something brushed against her hand.
At that moment, So Yeon gulped down her dry saliva.
Was it an accident? Just as she thought that, their hands touched, and his warm body heat was conveyed for a long time.
Thump-thump-thump-thump…
So Yeon’s heart raced wildly. But that wasn’t the end. What seemed like a light touch of his fingertips now became a deliberate exploration of her fingers. Then, he firmly grasped her hand.
“….!”
Her heart plummeted.
The heart that felt like it would wear out from beating so hard was now gone. In an instant, it plunged into an endless abyss.
“Why…?”
She tried to utter a word, but her tongue felt numb and wouldn’t move.
“…….”
Seo Jun’s exceptionally dark eyes looked down at So Yeon, whose eyelashes fluttered.
It was then that their black and brown eyes met.
“What are you two doing here?”
Director Yoon stood at the entrance of the exhibition hall, shaking a bottle of champagne.
“Let’s go for champagne. Everyone is making a toast to wish for a big hit.”
Startled, So Yeon suddenly found herself far away from Seo Jun.
“Director, I’m sorry. I have to leave now. My child is waiting for me at home.”
“Ah, is that so? It’s a pity, but I should let you go quickly.”
The more you yearn, the more you want to see.
Knowing this principle well, Director Yoon winked at Seo Jun and casually dropped a meaningful comment.
“That handsome little guy, he’s totally a mama’s boy.”
What would happen if I seduced this man?
Would he think I’m crazy?
Or would he say, “finally, that’s what I wanted”?
I’ve thought about it hundreds of times, but never dared to act on it. I lacked the courage. Even though we’re both actors, Seo Jun’s noble presence is on a different level from ordinary celebrities. His perfection, like a robust fortress, was something I couldn’t dare to breach.
But the opportunity to provocatively engage him came unexpectedly easy.
Finally, today, right now!
Min Jung, sitting closely next to Seo Jun, crossed her legs seductively. Her slender legs were fully exposed under the rolled-up short skirt.
However, Seo Jun’s gaze, settled in a crystal glass, remained unmoved.
Feeling her cheeks puff out at his indifference, Min Jung leaned lightly on Seo Jun’s arm and said,
“What would it be like if we really dated? The reporters said our chemistry is no joke. I liked it.”
“…….”
The indifferent gaze of Seo Jun, neither disliking nor liking, appeared soft and languid under the dim light. He glanced briefly at Min Jung, radiating seductiveness, then his eyes returned to his drink.
And then, a faint smirk crossed his lips.
In reality, Seo Jun’s heart was on the verge of bursting. The answer So Yeon had given on stage kept replaying in his mind, causing unbearable turmoil.
So that guy was her first love, then what was I? Her first man! Damn it! Does that mean I meant nothing to her?
He felt filthy for spewing curses in his head, consumed by bitter jealousy. So he pretended to merely glance at her. But unconsciously, as soon as he came off the stage, he had sought out So Yeon, intending to berate her with any excuse he could find.
However, when he found her in a dim corner, no thoughts came to his mind. He just realized how much he had missed her all this time.
It was inexplicable how his feelings had translated into action. How long had it been since he had felt her touch? Seo Jun thought he would never forget the soft sensation of her fingers entwined with his.
Perhaps that was why, when everyone excitedly popped champagne and made toasts, Seo Jun felt subdued, his chest tight. His heart felt empty and lonely, like a tidal flat after the sea had receded.
After the press conference, Seo Jun and Director Yoon left the broadcasting station and went to a nearby club with the drama investors. Min Jung, who had tagged along, remained even when everyone else had left.
And so, only Seo Jun and Min Jung were left in the room.
“How about me as your woman, Seo Jun? Just thinking about it sounds amazing, right? If the drama’s leads become real lovers, the drama will do even better. Killing two birds with one sto… Ugh!”
Min Jung got more than she bargained for.
While she was busily talking, Seo Jun had put a piece of fruit in her mouth to silence her.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
