“The people who could openly approach the greenhouse, excluding those already ruled out as suspects, would probably be the patrolling knights, Matthew who manages the greenhouse equipment, and my personal guard.”

Ariel was slightly suspicious of Victor. He had been absent when they visited Tiana during the construction, and right after that, Ludvian had appeared. However, she didn’t want to recklessly name him based solely on that incident and risk making him a target of focused investigation, so she mentioned only the guard once more. After all, nothing was certain yet.

Kaius gave a slight nod, as if urging her to continue.

“Among them, if we investigate those who either experienced something unpleasant or had a problem resolved after Siela was expelled, I think we’ll find the culprit without much difficulty. As you well know, desperate people are the easiest to manipulate. You, Duke, surely understand that as well.”

Kaius gazed silently at Ariel, who spoke logically and directly into his eyes. Her analysis was accurate, and her proposed solution was very close to the truth.

“I’ll issue orders accordingly.”

Seeing her suggestion accepted, Ariel’s golden eyes sparkled even more brightly. Watching her, Kaius’s gaze deepened further.

“The rest I’ll handle myself. How about you focus on a different kind of worry, my lady?”

“What kind?”

“Something like… how to welcome your husband who’s returned after a long absence.”

Ariel’s face instantly flushed, and she lowered her head deeply. She’d been so absorbed in her own concerns that she’d forgotten he’d just come back from exhausting work.

“I’m sorry. Once you finish eating, please go rest right away. I heard you pushed yourself terribly hard. Hern says sleep is the best remedy for restoring energy.”
