“I should probably take my leave now. I’m sorry for visiting so late.”

Edward bowed politely once more to Kaius, picked up the letters from the table, and tucked them into his coat. Then he took a box out of his pocket.

“Ariel, this is a wedding gift.”

“Oh… Thank you, Edward.”

Ariel smiled again and accepted it, immediately placing it on the table.

“Kaius, I’ll see him out.”

Her voice brightened, her face softened with a smile—all because of that man. Watching Ariel hurry after Edward, Kaius’s lips twisted into a crooked frown.

Once she disappeared from view, Kaius slowly closed and then opened his eyes. His expressionless gaze fell upon the box on the table. He glanced back at the box in his own hand, inspecting it once more.

The boxes were strikingly similar—so much so that it was nearly impossible to tell them apart without close examination.

On the morning of the ‘Le Cordon Bleu’ competition, Ariel headed straight to the bathroom as soon as she woke up and examined herself.
