“You’ve arrived.”

Kaius rose leisurely from his seat, fastened the buttons of his jacket, and approached them.

“This is Elia Camelon, the owner of Elia Company.”

After Edward’s introduction, Ariel gave a slight curtsy, and Kaius extended his hand to her with polite courtesy. Meeting his eyes up close, Ariel was flustered by the memory of last night’s kiss, but managed to push the recollection away—she reminded herself that she was not Ariel, but Elia Camelon.

Murmuring “Elia Camelon” like a spell, Ariel raised her gloved hand in lace, and he lightly kissed the back of it.

“A pleasure to meet you, Lady Elia.”

Facing yet another situation where she unintentionally deceived him, it took considerable courage just to meet his gaze. Only after his eyes shifted toward Edward did the tension finally ease from her stiff shoulders.

“Lord Edward, I’d like to speak with Lady Elia alone—would you mind stepping away for a moment?”

At his words, Edward glanced toward her, and Ariel gave a slight nod. She had somewhat prepared herself, knowing he wished to meet her. Before leaving, Edward leaned close and whispered softly into her ear,

“Don’t forget the time.”

Ariel nodded faintly and sat down in the chair Kaius pulled out for her.

“What did you wish to see me about?”

As soon as she took her seat, Ariel asked directly about his purpose.

Kaius stared silently at the woman before him, overcome by an inexplicable sense of déjà vu.

Was it because her eye color was uncommon?
