“Damn it, where did he go so suddenly?”

When Zimmer entered Adele’s bedroom, Christine was nowhere to be found. Judging by the open window, he seemed to have gone outside.

He quickly mounted a horse and chased after him, but Christine had vanished without a trace. The constant rain made tracking his movements difficult.

“If this goes wrong, it’ll be a disaster.”

Christine had no equal on the battlefield. With his animal-like senses and superhuman reflexes, no one could even touch him with the tip of a blade.

In truth, he carried the blood of the Wolf Clan, long thought to have disappeared without a trace.

A warrior among warriors.

Yet even he had a fatal weakness.

During winter—the wolves’ mating season—his senses grew so acute that he easily felt desire toward the opposite sex.

Once, under the influence of wine, they’d spoken of this.

“So, do you just embrace any woman then?”

“Don’t be foolish. Our clan is destined to love only one person for life. After sharing love once, we respond only to that person’s scent.”

“What if your mate isn’t by your side when desire strikes?”

“You simply suppress it. But it drains your strength greatly, so you need prey to hunt.”

“But until now, you’ve been fine even in winter, haven’t you?”
