The maid returned only quite some time after Isabella’s bath had finished.

While Madam Turiel was waiting in the reception room, Isabella had been examined by a female doctor.

Lenisha watched it all with a cold face.

“The wound on your back is deep, Miss.”

“Uhm……”

Isabella bowed her head as if she had committed some sin.

Her heart was torn at the sight of the child fiddling nervously with her fingers.

She was always confident and honest, no matter the situation.

Adorable to the point that anyone could only love her.

Pity arose in the old female doctor’s eyes.

The child was clearly of a noble family, yet she seemed to be cowering and scared.

She hesitated and stammered.

Her appearance was too strained for a young lady who had been raised with love.

The old doctor gently held Isabella’s hand.

“Can you tell me how you were injured? I can help you heal.”

“Really? Can you remove the scar?”

“I can lighten it, though not completely. You are still growing, and there are many good medicines in the world.”

Isabella’s expression noticeably brightened.

Lenisha stopped short.

‘It must have been the scar.’

She only just realized what that wound might mean to the child.

A very sensitive age.

Given that she was a child with a rich emotional world, the scar probably meant more to her than it would to others.

And seeing that scar would have reminded her of the terror of that day.

Lenisha gritted her teeth.

However, not to startle Isabella, Lenisha pretended to calmly sip tea and read a book.

As if she was at ease. Just as Isabella had always seen Lenisha.

“…I was injured by a sword. I heard it was coated with poison. According to the doctor who treated me, I had a fever for ten days. People thought I was a boy because I had to wrap a bandage around my back due to the wound. My hair was a mess when my back was cut, so I had to cut it like this.”

Isabella pointed to her hair.

“And Grandfather said that it might be better to live as a boy.”

“Why did you pretend to lose your memory?”

Lenisha asked in a soft voice.

Isabella looked at Lenisha with wide eyes and answered promptly.

“Mom said to do that if it seemed dangerous.”

Lenisha swallowed a bitter laugh along with her tea.

“You did well.”

Isabella nodded her head and smiled brightly.

The old doctor also comforted Isabella.

“You did well, Miss. You are brave.”

“So, now you can lighten the scar?”

“Yes. I will prepare the medicine for you. You should apply it twice a day. Can you do that?”

“Yes!”

“Isabella. Go and change your clothes. I bought new ones for you. You liked purple, didn’t you?”

Isabella blushed.

Lenisha was still the same.

Isabella was 13, Lenisha was 24.

They were only 11 years apart as niece and aunt.

They grew up almost like sisters.

Isabella often confided to Lenisha things she could not tell her parents.

Though such exchanges had diminished since Lenisha became the empress.

Isabella glanced at Lenisha.

It seemed the same, even after a long time.

She was as pretty as if she had come out of a picture book.

Her tone of voice was gentle towards Isabella.

“A dress?”

“Yes. Do you want to change?”

It was something she had completely forgotten while pretending to be a boy.

Isabella pursed her lips and quietly answered.

“Yes.”

She had never imagined that the day would come when she could wear a dress again.

After seeing Isabella go out with Lindey, holding her hand, Lenisha asked the female doctor.

“Are there injuries anywhere else?”

“The food that the knights eat may have been insufficient for the young lady. She appears to be in a state of malnutrition.”

Throb.

With the light headache that came with anger, Lenisha rubbed her forehead.

“And?”

“There doesn’t appear to be any significant injury apart from a sword wound on the back.”

“…Thank you.”

“Not at all.”

“We will soon leave this place. I intend to go to Hiloshain. If you have any thoughts, would you not come with us?”

“…There will be no gossip about the young lady. I promise with what little life I have left. I have children on these streets to look after until I die. Please grant them mercy for their sake.”

The doctor bowed deeply.

Lenisha exhaled deeply.

“…That’s not it. I’m not so heartless that I won’t repay a favor. I simply thought it would be good to have a good doctor to look after the child. She has many wounds and it worries me.”

“Thank you for your kindness, madam.”

“Go find Madam Turiel’s dressing room. You can leave the medicine there, and she will take care of the payment.”

“Yes, madam.”

The doctor withdrew, and Lenisha buried her face in her palms.

Lenisha’s maids looked at her with worried faces as she stood guard.

Lenisha slowly inhaled and exhaled repeatedly.

She hadn’t thought she’d be fine from the start.

She was content just to be alive.

But, facing it directly, she felt as if her heart was being torn out.

‘I didn’t open the door.’

She resented her past self who had made the mistake of letting an ungrateful beast in.

My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband

This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.

The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.

They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.

In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.

When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.

She makes his life a living hell.

And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.

Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!

Intro

Dong Xia lost her memory.

Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”

Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.

…

The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.

She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.

Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.

No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!

Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂

*

Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.

The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.

In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.

The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.

And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.

Notes:

1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.

2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
