Charlotte’s footsteps quickened as she crossed the corridor. Her pallid complexion suggested she was enduring something silently. Hurriedly returning to her room, Charlotte locked the door behind her.

At the same moment, a wave of nausea surged up.

A worried maid immediately turned around and fetched a bucket. Through her blurred vision, Charlotte saw the metal bucket. She tried covering her mouth tightly with both hands, but soon reached her limit and finally vomited everything rising bitterly in her throat.

Blood rushed to her head, increasing intraocular pressure. The pain in her eyes quickly triggered a headache, and the headache in turn reignited her nausea.

Even amid this ongoing suffering, the image that refused to leave her mind was Edwin’s ever-cold and indifferent face.
