The Youngest Daughter of the Swordsmanship Family Turned Great Mage (32 Chapters Left to Complete) - Chapter 12
The place Lucas took Rogette, after boldly declaring his intentions, was the dining hall.
“A good person is someone who gives you delicious food!”
He babbled something incomprehensible to Rogette, then enthusiastically gave instructions to the head chef with great vigor.
A moment later, the breakfast the maids brought was distinctly different from the day before.
Instead of individually plated servings, dishes were placed in the center of the table buffet-style, and everyone served themselves.
Rogette stood there, mouth agape at the towering stack of pancakes, when Lucas, seated beside her, said proudly,
“We eat like this sometimes when Father isn’t around. No need for formality.”
He scooped up a pancake as large as his face, drenched it generously in maple syrup, then cut off a huge bite and stuffed it into his mouth.
It was unclear whether his enthusiasm was to feed Rogette or simply because he himself was hungry.
Rogette watched him eat for a while before turning her gaze to the food laid out on the table.
Next to the mountain of pancakes sat a plate of crispy bacon and glistening sausages.
Beside that was a plump omelet filled with cheese and chopped vegetables, and next to that lay grilled vegetables. There were also salads, cheeses, and many other delicacies.
Truthfully, Rogette had never—neither in this life nor her previous one—seen so much food laid out at once.
Lucas, who had already finished an entire pancake, noticed Rogette just blinking at her fork and asked,
“Why aren’t you eating?”
“I… I don’t know what to eat first.”
“Why wouldn’t you know? Just eat whatever you want. What do you want the most?”
“Hmmmm…”
Rogette fell into deep thought.
In her entire life, no one had ever asked her opinion about food.
At the orphanage, where food was scarce, and even in the Dallas household, she had always just eaten whatever was given to her. She had never once dared to state what she wanted to eat first.
In truth, almost no one had ever asked her opinion about anything at all.
After watching the pancake crumbs stuck at the corner of Lucas’s mouth, Rogette finally replied,
“I’ll… have the same thing you’re having, oppa.”
“Really? I’ll serve it for you.”
Lucas, looking rather pleased with himself, put a pancake onto Rogette’s plate.
“What should I pour on top?”
“Whatever you used…”
“Alright, I’ll pour maple syrup.”
After drizzling the syrup, Lucas kept asking,
“What would you like with your pancakes? Cream? Fruit?”
“Fruit…”
“What kind? Banana? Strawberry? Blueberry? Kiwi?”
She had managed to follow Lucas’s lead up to the syrup, but this time the question offered too many choices.
Moreover, why were there so many options? Rogette felt dizzy. She worried that answering wrongly might disappoint Lucas.
Yet she honestly didn’t know what she wanted. Finally, she stammered,
“I… I don’t know.”
Her voice carried a slight tremble. Lucas immediately looked flustered.
“Hey, hey! Don’t cry over something like this! It’s nothing! Just eat it all—eat everything, alright?”
He even brought the entire fruit platter over to her and served a little of every kind onto her plate.
Rogette’s eyes widened like lanterns as she asked,
“Am I really allowed to eat all this?”
“Of course!”
“For real?”
“Yes! Eat as much as you want!”
Lucas grinned widely, then piled a pancake and a bit of every fruit onto his own plate too.
“Come on, let’s eat together.”
Only then did Rogette relax and nod.
“Yes!”
She carefully put a piece of pancake into her mouth. The pancake, practically soaked in syrup, was honestly so sweet it nearly burned her tongue—so sweet that the fruit she ate afterward barely registered as sweet at all.

Yet it was delicious enough to bring tears to her eyes. Or perhaps it wasn’t even the food that moved her so deeply, but Lucas’s kindness.
When Rogette sniffled again while dipping fruit into syrup, Lucas asked contentedly,
“Delicious, right?”
“Yes.”
“I’m the best, right?”
“Yes.”
“Am I better than Daniel?”
“……”
Rogette couldn’t answer that. She didn’t feel anything special toward either of them that would let her declare one better than the other.
But Lucas seemed to take her silence personally and grumbled,
“Even after making my special pancakes for you, I’m still not better than my brother? I’ll never understand why everyone likes Daniel so much.”
“No!”
Rogette quickly swallowed what was in her mouth and denied it. Lucas asked again, a flicker of hope in his voice,
“Then?”
Rogette mumbled softly,
“I… like you both.”
“So you like me too, right?”
“Yes.”
“Then that’s settled.”
Lucas, whose ears had turned slightly red, scratched his cheek.
“Hurry up and eat. Once you finish that, we’ll go tour the mansion.”
Rogette nodded and began eating her pancakes diligently. Lucas, as if in competition, started wolfing his food down with gusto.
The two siblings had no idea that the staff were watching them with warm, delighted smiles.
[This is the timeline separator]Lucas kept serving food onto Rogette’s plate as if he were frantic she wasn’t eating enough.
Not only that—he also praised her whenever she finished what was on her plate.
‘It feels nice.’
Rogette kept eating, again and again, because she liked how Lucas chattered away cheerfully. She only put down her fork when her once-flat stomach had become round.
“I really can’t eat any more.”
“Really? Try just a little more.”
“I truly can’t. If I eat more, I’ll…”
She couldn’t bring herself to say she might throw everything back up.
Lucas seemed to understand her unspoken words and didn’t press her further. Instead, he quickly devoured what remained on his own plate and stood up.
“Alright! Now I’ll show you around the mansion!”
Just then, a disapproving voice came from the entrance.
“Where do you think you’re going looking like that?”
It was Isabelle Adrian. Having just returned from her dawn training and bathed, she carried the scent of floral soap as she drew near.
Lucas pouted,
“What about how I look? What’s wrong with it?”
Isabelle snapped back,
“You stink.”
Lucas looked genuinely shocked and sniffed his own arm. His face immediately flushed bright red.
“I don’t smell at all!”
Despite his protest, he subtly edged farther away from both Rogette and Isabelle.
“Stay here—no, wait in your room! I’ll go wash up and come get you right away!”
With that, he dashed out of the dining hall like a bolt of lightning. Rogette stifled a laugh as she watched him run off, but then turned her head at the sudden sensation of someone’s gaze. Isabelle was staring directly at her.
“Why… why are you looking at me like that?”
“Just wondering.”
She muttered indifferently,
“If you’ve gotten close to that idiot already. Did you eat breakfast?”
ads
“Yes… with Lucas oppa.”
“Knowing him, you must’ve eaten a ridiculous mountain of food.”
Rogette quickly shook her head, but Isabelle clicked her tongue knowingly.
“Anyway, what’s with your own appearance?”
“Oh…”
Rogette looked down at herself, clearly wearing hand-me-downs from an older sister.
“I wore the smallest one I could find…”
Isabelle turned to her personal maid standing behind her and gave an order,
“Fetch Madame Wide. As quickly as possible. We need to get her properly fitted.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
Apparently unsatisfied with just that, Isabelle stepped closer and grabbed a handful of Rogette’s hair.
“Even if the clothes can’t be helped for now, your posture and grooming must improve. What’s with this hair? It looks like a bird’s nest.”
Rogette, slightly intimidated, flattened her hair with her palms. Though her natural hair quality wasn’t bad, years of poor nutrition and lack of care had left the ends rough.
Back at the orphanage, hers had been the best hair among the children, but next to Isabelle’s silky strands, the difference was stark.
While Rogette stood awkwardly, Isabelle ran her fingers through Rogette’s hair, skillfully braided it, and tied it off with one of her own ribbons.
After draping the finished braid over Rogette’s shoulder, Isabelle nodded in approval.
“There. Now you’re at least presentable.”
With that, she sat down at the table and began her meal.
Rogette absentmindedly touched her new braid. Though Isabelle seemed aloof, she was every bit as kind a family member as Lucas or Daniel.
[This is the timeline separator]Daniel had headed to the imperial capital early that morning with Duke Adrian—to visit Joshua, his longtime friend and the Crown Prince.
When Duke Adrian suggested going to the capital at dawn, Daniel thought he’d misheard. But his father’s next words left him genuinely astonished.
“His Highness the Crown Prince was startled by a nightmare?”
“Yes. He urgently inquired after both you and me—wondering how we were.”
“He’s not the sort to be rattled by just a dream. That’s strange.”
“He wouldn’t say what the dream was about, but it must have been quite terrible. He mentioned he’ll come see you soon, but as his subjects, how could we possibly ask the Crown Prince to come and go at our convenience?”
That was precisely why the two of them had entered the palace so early in the morning.
Though Duke Adrian wasn’t one to exaggerate, Daniel suspected his father might be overstating things. After all, the Joshua he knew wasn’t someone who’d be shaken by a mere dream.
Joshua Ernhardt was arrogant and cynical. Trained in imperial rulership since childhood, he never let personal emotions sway him.
That such a man would be unsettled—not by something real, but by a dream—was hard to believe. Until actually meeting Joshua, Daniel assumed he’d made the comment out of playful jest, merely wanting to see him.
But then…
“Daniel!”
The moment they met, Joshua rushed over and pulled him into a tight embrace. It had only been a week, yet Joshua acted as if they hadn’t seen each other in ages.
“Are you hurt anywhere?”
Joshua gripped Daniel’s shoulders and scanned him up and down. Daniel simply shrugged.
“As you can see, I’m perfectly fine, Your Highness.”
“Your legs? How are your legs?”
“So in your dream, I injured my legs?”
Daniel joked with a smile, but seeing Joshua’s grave expression, he grew serious too.
“As you can see, I’m perfectly fine.”
“Really? Walk for me.”
Though the request seemed absurd, Daniel complied, crossing the room as Joshua wished. His gait—steady, crisp, and disciplined—befitted a knight-in-training said to have no equal among his peers.
Joshua stroked his chin, watching, then said casually,
“No issues.”
Daniel sat back down and chuckled lightly,
“Were you testing me?”
“Took you long enough to realize. Your instincts have gotten dull.”
Joshua gave a faint smile and lifted his teacup. At last, Daniel saw the Joshua he knew. Reassured, he changed the subject.
“By the way, what kind of dream had you so worried about me and my father?”

Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
