“Good. I wouldn’t allow it anyway!”
Feeling overwhelmed to deal with Lucas any further, Rosette slowly started walking towards the mansion.
“Hey, hey! Rose! Wait! You should at least answer!”
Lucas followed her, trotting behind.
Rosette, having rolled up her skirt to her knees, sat demurely on a chair. The family physician examined her knees with a serious expression.
This was all because Lucas had caused a fuss upon entering the mansion, exclaiming, “The youngest fell really hard!”
Rosette felt a bit embarrassed.
‘It’s not a big deal…’
Her skinny knees, still bony, showed no scrapes or even a hint of redness. Yet, Lucas kept chattering to the physician at her side.
“The sound was loud. Check carefully. Could a bone be broken? Look at her legs. They seem breakable!”

The physician, who even brought a magnifying glass for the examination, chuckled.
“She’s fine, young master.”
“Really?”
“Yes. But to be safe, let’s apply some ointment in case a bruise appears later.”
The physician carefully applied the ointment and left the room. Lucas sighed in relief and sat next to Rosette.
“Good, no broken bones.”
“Bones don’t break that easily.”
Lucas pressed her forehead with his index finger.
“Our youngest knows how to talk back now?”
Rosette didn’t retort but simply dangled her legs. Ignoring Lucas’s ongoing chatter, she was lost in thought.

‘How do I expose the spy?’
The first thing that came to her mind was a confession spell. It was a high-level mind-control magic used mainly for interrogating criminals.
‘But that’s not possible.’
There were several issues with the confession spell.
First, it was a high-level spell. The past Rosette might have used it, but the current her, without a mana core, couldn’t.
Second, even if she could use the magic, it would be problematic. Using such a spell would make people view Rosette strangely. After all, she was just an eight-year-old kid who hadn’t even started learning the basics of magic.
Moreover, she had no excuse for why she used the spell on that particular knight. She couldn’t just say she found him suspicious.
Third.
‘I don’t want to.’
The confession spell, by forcibly controlling the mind, carried risks. In severe cases, the person affected could suffer mental damage.
Rosette had used the spell a few times in the past out of necessity due to the demands of Duke Dallas, but now she was reluctant to do so. She rubbed the area near her heart where Duke Dallas had once placed a spell and furrowed her brow.

‘How can I naturally reveal this?’
At that moment, she heard a voice from above.
“Rosette, are you in a lot of pain?”
Lost in her thoughts, Rosette looked up to find Daniel looking down at her with a smile. Lucas had apparently left the room.
“How did you know to come here?”
“I heard about it. Lucas’s voice was echoing through the hallway.”
Daniel sat in front of her, examining her knees with a smile in his voice.
“Fortunately, there’s no swelling or serious injury.”
“Lucas overreacted.”
“Did he?”
“Yes. I didn’t fall that hard.”
“That’s good to hear.”
Daniel laughed out loud and then studied Rosette’s face again.
“Why such a serious expression, then?”
“Just some worries…”
“Worries? About what?”
“Just things.”
Unable to speak the truth or lie convincingly, Rosette mumbled her response. Luckily, Daniel didn’t press further but simply patted her head.
“Father said children shouldn’t have to worry.”
Rosette felt a tickle in her throat again under his warm touch. She imagined this kind and warm brother unable to use one of his legs, leaning on a cane, which was more painful than she expected. The feeling was different from when she first met him – more heart-wrenching.

Mimicking Daniel’s action, Rosette patted his head. He looked surprised, then closed his eyes and smiled.
“Is there anything I can do for you, sister?”
“Be careful when you ride the carriage, brother.”
“I will. I’ve been checking it carefully lately.”
Daniel might have thought it was a child’s baseless worry, but he seemed to take it seriously.
Still, Rosette wasn’t reassured and extended her pinky finger.
“Promise me.”
Daniel, still smiling, linked his pinky with hers.
“Promise.”
Back in his room, Joseph Oser ensured he was alone before activating a small communication magic device. A low voice came from the device.

“There’s an emergency situation.”
[Speak.]Joseph Oser swallowed dryly before whispering.
“Daniel Adrian seems to have noticed something.”
[Noticed? What do you mean?]“He’s been emphasizing careful management of horses and carriages lately.”
There was silence from the other end of the device for a while. Then a slightly deeper voice asked.
[How did they notice? What did you do?]“I swear I did nothing. I haven’t even been near the stables or carriage storage.”
Joseph hurriedly clarified, worried about any misunderstanding. He was desperate; his only sister, Melody, was being held hostage.
“Please, don’t harm my sister.”
Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day
It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!
This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.
The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.
Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.
If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.
It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.
The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.
In the end, everything will come together and be explained.
One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!
In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.
Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.
However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.
Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.
Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?
——
Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.
His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.
Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”
——
The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.
Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!
Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!
The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…
——
But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.
The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.
She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…
Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”
Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”
Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?
[Small Theater]
The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.
Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”
Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.
Zhu Wansheng: ?
Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…
On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.
Warm breath lingers on her neck.
“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
