“There’s a woman looking for her son in America.”

Tae Ha brought up Soo Yeon.

“Really? Who is she?”

“You know Si Hyeon grew up at her Uncle’s house because she lost her parents, right? There was a live-in housekeeper at that house when she was little…”

Tae Ha briefly explained about Soo Yeon.

“He says her son is half-American, just like me. I don’t know all the details, but apparently her child’s father took him to America shortly after he was born, and she hasn’t seen him since. She doesn’t even know where he lives now or what his name is.”

“How old is the child?”

“He’s the same age as me.”

“Oh my!”

Leon’s face instantly turned sorrowful, as if it were his own story.

“I lived without even knowing you existed, but she’s known all along and still hasn’t been able to see him—how heartbroken she must be!”

He looked so deeply moved that it didn’t even feel like someone else’s story.

“Yes. Seeing how much she misses her son made my heart ache too.”

Last night, watching Soo Yeon, drunk and mistaking him for her own son, had nearly made Tae Ha burst into tears. He desperately wished, “If only I were her real son.”
