“How do I look, son?”

Jeong Im slung her handbag over her shoulder and struck a series of model-like poses.

“Wow, Mom, you really look so young—it’s like you’re the one getting married!”

Woo Jin gave her two enthusiastic thumbs-up, and Jeong Im shot him a playful glare.

“You’re something else—teasing your own mother?”

A sales assistant standing nearby chimed in supportively.

“It’s usually young customers who go for this style, but it fits you perfectly! How is it that everything you try looks so good on you?”

Pleased by the compliment, Jeong Im puffed up proudly. Still apparently unsatisfied, she cast an expectant glance toward Si Hyeon, as if urging her to add her own praise. Si Hyeon reluctantly managed a single sentence.

“It suits you well, Mother.”

Sensing the lack of genuine enthusiasm, Jeong Im frowned disapprovingly.

“Honestly, even though you’re still young, you’ve got absolutely no charm.”

Si Hyeon barely held back the urge to scream. Jeong Im had been dragging her from one boutique to another for the past three hours, trying on every bag in sight and demanding to hear how pretty she looked or how well it suited her each time. Si Hyeon had never been the affectionate type to begin with—and even if she had been, she’d be completely drained by now.

“So, Mom, shall we go with this one?”

“Isn’t it too expensive? Goodness, a tiny bag like this costs nearly ten million won!”

Now, at the last minute, Jeong Im feigned modesty.
