People suddenly grabbed and clung to Suyeon.

“Madam, please save us!”

What is this commotion?

To the bewildered Suyeon, a person who identified themselves as the chairman of the market merchants association stepped forward to explain.

A large mart had unexpectedly opened right across from Suyeon’s curry shop, causing an uproar in the market. It turned out to be an establishment from the Grand Hotel and was expected to be the largest in the area.

Small traditional markets couldn’t withstand the presence of a large mart nearby. So, yesterday, the market merchants collectively closed their businesses and protested in front of the hotel all day. Finally, after the chairman sent a secretary, the situation unfolded.

[Isn’t it necessary to negotiate with the surrounding businesses before allowing the mart to enter?]

When they complained, the secretary said this:

[Our chairman Madam has decided to open a restaurant right there in front because the mart is too far. Madam cannot go to the market due to personal reasons, which you all are well aware of, so we ask for your understanding.]

Market merchants clung to Suyeon and pleaded.

“If that mart comes in, we’ll all starve to death. Please help us, please?”

Among them were vegetable shop owners who had chased Suyeon away before, apologizing now.

“We listened to Minu’s mom too much. We apologize for being too harsh.”

“That lady is good at making up things out of thin air, and we just have thin ears.”

“If Madam wants, we’ll bring Minu’s mom and have her kneel down, okay?”

Suyeon was troubled. In fact, to be honest, she didn’t know. However, it was a matter involving the livelihoods of many people, so she couldn’t pretend not to know. Knowing that it happened because of her made it even more challenging.

In the end, Suyeon sighed and said,

“I’ll try to talk about it.”

Reluctantly, Suyeon led her unwilling steps towards the hotel. As she entered the lobby, her shoulders naturally drooped. The majesty of a luxury hotel always made Suyeon feel small.

Not knowing who to ask, after hesitating for a while, Suyeon headed to the front desk.

“Um, can I meet Mr. Kennedy by any chance…”

“Huh? Are you referring to our chairman?”

The front desk employee looked at Suyeon with a puzzled expression. It seemed as if she was wondering who this woman was to be looking for their chairman.

While Suyeon was at a loss for what to do, a voice calling her name was heard from somewhere.

“Ms. Suyeon?”

Turning around, Leon, with a surprised look, hurriedly came towards her.

“Tae-ha just started his shift… Wait, did you come to see me?”

“Yes.”

Nodding, Leon’s face brightened as if a light had come on.

“Let’s have lunch together. What do you feel like eating? Our Korean restaurant has a delicious lunch course. Or, since you couldn’t have it last time, shall we go to the French restaurant?”

The man speaking with an excited face was interrupted by the secretary who had been seen before, looking flustered.

“Chairman, you have a lunch appointment today…”

Without looking at the secretary, Leon, with his gaze fixed on Suyeon, replied,

“Cancel it.”

Feeling like she couldn’t eat anything right now, Suyeon said she didn’t want lunch but would like to have tea. Leon took her to the hotel’s lounge on the top floor.

They sat facing the window overlooking the city.

It was supposed to be a simple plan for a cup of coffee, but what came out was an Afternoon Tea Set. Each dessert on the three-tier tray made of silver looked so beautiful that Suyeon couldn’t bring herself to eat.

To Suyeon’s plate, which she couldn’t touch, Leon kept adding things like fruit tarts and chocolate cakes.

“Try this. You like sweet things, don’t you?”

When does this person ever stop with these inappropriate remarks?

The problem was that she still liked them. Sweet things, and…

Gathering her weakening heart, Suyeon brought up the main topic.
“It’s about the mart opening. I hope you canceled it.”

Leon had a bewildered expression.

“Did those people go all the way to Suyeon to make the request?”

“They even said she’s my wife. Isn’t that obvious?”

Suyeon sighed and spoke.

“Anyway, since we received an apology, I hope you can consider it resolved.”

Thinking that, from the beginning, it was an issue caused by her, she thought that if she requested, Leon would comply. However, Leon was unexpectedly firm.

“It’s unfortunate, but it’s already decided. Construction is underway, and the opening date is set. There’s nothing we can do.”

He refused so decisively that his face turned red.

“But you can still cancel it.”

“I don’t want to.”

“Their livelihoods are at stake.”

“I don’t care about the livelihoods of people I don’t know.”

In a calm and gentle voice, as if he would listen to anything, the man repeated his refusal. In the end, Suyeon lowered her head.

“I’ll make this request.”

Her pride wasn’t unaffected. However, Suyeon, who had gone through various hardships, knew the weight of livelihood issues well. She couldn’t pretend not to know it was someone else’s problem.

My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband

This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.

The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.

They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.

In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.

When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.

She makes his life a living hell.

And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.

Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!

Intro

Dong Xia lost her memory.

Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”

Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.

…

The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.

She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.

Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.

No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!

Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂

*

Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.

The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.

In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.

The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.

And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.

Notes:

1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.

2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
