When passing through the high stone wall of the villa and entering inside, Yeowoon’s eyes widened at the familiar face that immediately came into view.
“Lucky?”
Certainly, it was Lucky. A lovely large dog with fur as white as snow.
As Yeowoon entered the car, Lucky approached, wagging his tail. Yeowoon hurriedly parked and got out of the car, worried that Lucky might be in danger.
“Lucky!”
Whether he recognized her or not, Lucky rushed towards her as always. Yeowoon opened her arms and embraced Lucky.
The soft and massive bundle of fur dug into her embrace. Now knowing how to hold Lucky properly, he no longer bumped into her with his hindquarters as he used to.
Yeowoon secretly hoped while watching Lucky, who was wagging his tail without reserve.
Does Lucky being here mean that Seol Ji-oh is also here?
Yeowoon brushed Lucky’s fur and asked, “Lucky, is Hyung-ah here?”

“Woof-wooof.”
Perhaps because he had been spending time in the spacious garden, Lucky seemed more lively. Smiling at his energetic howling, Yeowoon looked at the villa.
Only the outdoor lights were on, and the inside of the villa was dark.
“Is he not here…”
Yeowoon thought about going in first, and she approached the door. After entering the password and stepping inside, the house was quiet.
Turning on the light by feeling the wall, Yeowoon was momentarily stunned by the sight in front of her.
Bottles of alcohol scattered on the floor.
How much did he drink?
It wasn’t the amount consumed in a day or two. Looking at the various types of bottles, she couldn’t help but burst into bitter laughter.
What has Seol Ji-oh been doing here…

Yeowoon walked slowly inside. There seemed to be no one on the first floor. Just in case, she opened all the closed doors, but Seol Ji-oh was nowhere to be found.
“Ha…”
Unknowingly sighing, Yeowoon climbed up to the second floor.
When she went up the stairs, the situation in the living room on this floor was similar. Bottles of alcohol or water bottles were placed on the table.
As Yeowoon imagined how he had been, tears seemed to well up.
‘What is he eating? Why is there no food, only these bottles…’
Unconsciously biting her lips, Yeowoon walked slowly inside. At least, he didn’t seem to be on this floor. Holding back the tears that naturally came to her eyes, Yeowoon approached the bedroom.
She hesitated for a moment, holding the doorknob. If she opened this door, Seol Ji-oh would probably be inside.
Although she intended to scold him once she met him, seeing how he had been living made her heart ache.
After taking a deep breath, Yeowoon slowly turned the doorknob.

“…”
As soon as she opened the door, what caught her eyes was Seol Ji-oh lying asleep on the bed.
Only one stand light was on, so the room was dim, but his face was still clear.
A very tired face.
Yeowoon bit her lip.
‘That’s why I can’t get angry…’
Suppressing the tears that were welling up, Yeowoon approached the bed.
As she faced him, emotions flooded in like a tidal wave. It was a face she missed so much.
The face that I waited for every day in the hospital room. However, the face that never appeared in front of me.
I reached out and gently brushed his face. As the roughened skin was felt on my fingertips, Yeowoon closed her eyes.
Simultaneously, tears that had been held back welled up, streaming down her cheeks onto the bed.

“Seol Ji-oh… Why did you leave like this when you were going to spend your time like this?”
The sobbing kept rising, and Yeowoon covered her mouth with one hand.
If she were to meet him, she wanted to express her anger, resentment, and ask him how he could disappear leaving her behind…
But she couldn’t do anything. Even though she had resented him so much, when she faced him, the desire to touch and hold him overwhelmed her.
Because she missed him so much.
Because she loved him so much that her heart couldn’t resist.
Whether awakened by the sound of crying or not, Seol Ji-oh lifted the eyelids he had been closing.
Yeowoon’s heart pounded as she met his gaze through the blurred vision.
Seol Ji-oh blinked his eyes, clouded with drowsiness, and then murmured like a soliloquy.
“…Is this a dream?”

It was a dry voice.
Yeowoon wiped away her tears with her hand and looked at his face. He closed his eyes again and sighed deeply.
Wanting to tell him that this wasn’t a dream, that he should wake up, Yeowoon hesitated for a moment. But Seol Ji-oh reached out his hand, pulling Yeowoon towards him.
Suddenly pulled, Yeowoon’s body tensed, and she was laid down on the bed, while Seol Ji-oh stood up, holding Yeowoon under his arms.
In an instant, her view was overturned, and looking at him from above, Yeowoon stared at him with surprised eyes.
“…”
“…”
A moment of silence passed, and Seol Ji-oh furrowed his brows, then raised one hand and stroked Yeowoon’s cheek.
Pausing for a moment at the moisture on his hand, he hesitated and asked in a low voice.
“Is it really you?”

“…Yeah. You rascal.”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
