Yeo Woon woke up with a tingling sensation on her face. The gentle touch of a hand lightly brushing her forehead and the breeze that followed.
She struggled to lift her heavy eyelids and found Seol Ji Oh looking down at her. And the unfamiliar surroundings.
Oh, right. I was in an accident.
“Are you awake?”
Seol Ji Oh, holding a bandage in his hand, spoke. As Yeo Woon blinked dazedly, he attached the bandage to her forehead and said, “You got a cut on your forehead.”
“…Thank you.”
Her voice was hoarse. Yeo Woon cleared her throat, and Seol Ji Oh offered her a glass of water.
“Drink some water. How’s your body? Are you okay?”
Yeo Woon, after swallowing some water and sitting up, finally examined her own body. Bandaged arm, bandaged leg, aching back and shoulders.
Her senses felt unfamiliar, as if it wasn’t her own body.
Then, a fleeting image of a child crossed Yeo Woon’s mind, and she anxiously asked Seol Ji Oh.

“The child? Is he okay?”
“The child?”
“Yeah. There was a little boy, and it looked like the car was going to hit him, so I instinctively jumped in and pushed him to safety. But I don’t know if he’s okay.”
At her words, Seol Ji Oh looked puzzled.
“You’re saying you got hit by the car instead of a child you don’t even know?”
Yeo Woon turned her head to look at Seol Ji Oh. He furrowed his brows slightly and responded somewhat annoyed.
“Never do that again.”
“…Huh?”
“Are you Superman? Or do you have two lives? Why on earth did you jump in front of the car? Do you realize how dangerous that was?”
Yeo Woon sealed her lips in response to Seol Ji Oh’s words.
It was indeed a perilous moment, as he described. Considering the size of the child, it was lucky she was only this lightly injured.

However, the child was too young, and if she had not intervened, the situation might have been much worse. As she looked at his worried face, Yeo Woon began to feel sorry.
How shocked would he have been to see her lying in the hospital?
“I’m sorry, Ji Oh.”
Seol Ji Oh silently gazed at Yeo Woon, who was apologizing. Then he sighed and reached out to embrace her fragile body.
As Yeo Woon felt the familiar and warm embrace, she closed her eyes. Seol Ji Oh’s voice gently resonated in her ears.
“What would I do without you?”
“…I’m sorry.”
“Today was really scary, you know. Absurd rumors were spreading everywhere. You weren’t reachable, and I had no idea where you were. I received a call much later, saying you had been in a car accident… My heart couldn’t take it.”
Yeo Woon, lying in the hospital, felt sorry for the anguish Seol Ji Oh had gone through during her absence.
Yeo Woon held Seol Ji Oh even tighter, using her uninjured arm to gently stroke his back.
“I was wrong. I’m sorry, Ji Oh.”
Seol Ji Oh let out a soft sigh and then released Yeo Woon from his embrace, looking into her eyes.

“So, how are you feeling?”
“Feeling?”
“I heard everything from Seo Garam. The malicious rumor.”
Yeo Woon recalled her conversation with Seo Garam.
The absurd and baseless lies, with her name plastered in front of them.
“What happened with that? Did it spread everywhere?”
Seol Ji Oh shook his head.
“The company is dealing with it. It did spread to some extent, but it will die down soon.”
“Where’s my phone? Ji Oh, did you see my phone?”
Yeo Woon searched for her phone, curious about how the situation was unfolding. However, in the midst of the chaos, it seemed she had either lost it or it was nowhere to be found.
At that moment, Seol Ji Oh reached out and took Yeo Woon’s hand.

“Don’t look. Not today.”
Yeo Woon gazed at him in silence.
The situation hasn’t been resolved yet…
A bitter feeling washed over Yeo Woon. First and foremost, she thought of her mother and younger brother.
I hope my family doesn’t get hurt by these absurd lies…
With a conflicted heart, she bit her lip, and Seol Ji Oh gently brushed aside Yeo Woon’s hair.
“The company is handling it firmly. After all, they’re all baseless allegations, and you haven’t done anything wrong, so you don’t need to worry. Time will resolve the issue.”
Yeo Woon nodded without saying a word.
“I’m here with you. Didn’t you say that yesterday? Everything seems fine when I’m with you.”
“…Yeah.”
“Everything will be okay.”

It was like magic. Just one word, and her restless heart seemed to calm down.
Yeo Woon looked at Seol Ji Oh’s face and gave a faint smile. But unlike the corners of her lips, tears began to well up in her eyes.
Why am I suddenly like this…
Yeo Woon wiped away her tears and forced a smile. Seol Ji Oh’s eyes grew slightly larger at her teary smile.
“Yeo Woon…”
Truth be told, the consecutive events had been a bit overwhelming for her. It was her first time experiencing such things, and they were events beyond her control.
However, what kept her from falling apart was entirely thanks to Seol Ji Oh.
Holding her hand, hugging her, being the one to say that everything was okay—there was only one person who did all these things.
“Ji Oh, thank you. If it weren’t for you, I would have… I would have completely fallen apart.”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
