“Thank you, Miss Yeo Woon!”
“No problem, let me know if there’s anything else to move!”
Yeo Woon replied to the prop team staff with a smile and sat back down in her chair. A quick glance around the set revealed that there didn’t seem to be anywhere that needed immediate assistance.
It was then that Yeo Woon pulled out the script to review the scene they were filming that day.
She had looked at it so many times that she could picture the scene perfectly in her head, but she was a little worried about this particular scene.
It was a scene where ‘Cha Yeon Ju’ harasses ‘An Si Yeon’ after witnessing her meeting with ‘Cheon Su Ho’ in secret. There was some physical confrontation involved.
She wondered how she could perform well in a scene with bad behavior. It was her first time hitting someone else in a scene and she felt nervous.
She wouldn’t really hit her, would she?
But Director Byun simply said,
“The framing makes it look realistic if you hit her. Would you like to discuss it with Go Hyun Ah?”
At Director Byun Ju Ho’s words, Yeo Woon approached Go Hyun Ah with a worried expression. Go Hyun Ah responded to Yeo Woon’s words with a surprised expression and a sweet smile.
“I came today thinking I’d get hit! The scene would be much better that way. I’m okay, so just hit me.”
Go Hyun Ah encouraged a worried Yeo Woon and even matched her movements several times. Thanks to this, Yeo Woon’s nerves eased a bit.
“Let’s get started. Scene number 97.”
At the cue from Director Byun, Yeo Woon, as Cha Yeon Ju, entered the office. As she entered the office, three members of the secretarial team stood up and greeted Yeo Woon.

“You’re here, Director.”
Then a male secretary approached Yeo Woon and said,
“Director, the chairman is currently away. Maybe next time…….”
“I know. I’m not here to see the chairman.”
Yeo Woon, the woman, abruptly interrupted the male secretary and looked sharply at Go Hyun Ah. She looked her up and down and smiled, her lips tilting upwards on one side.
“Miss Ahn Shi Yeon? Please make a cup of coffee and bring it to the chairman’s office.”
As Yeo Woon was turning around to enter the chairman’s office, Go Hyun Ah opened her mouth behind her.
“Division Director, I apologize but I have urgent work at the moment…”
The secretaries standing beside Go Hyun Ah were startled and pulled at her clothes.
For a mere secretary to put a brake on the infamous princess of Cha Myung Group was an unthinkable occurrence.
Yeo Woon raised her eyebrows, then turned around again. Her face was filled with unexpected amusement.
“What work? Isn’t making coffee Miss Ahn Shi Yeon’s job? I thought your pretty face was chosen by my father just for making coffee.”
“…….”
“Miss Ahn Shi Yeon, you weren’t hired through public recruitment, right? Special hires… they win based on something other than skill, don’t they?”
“Division Director!”
As the humiliated Go Hyun Ah shouted, Yeo Woon smirked.
“If you don’t want to be treated worse, bring the coffee when I ask nicely, okay?”
“Cut! Okay. Let’s go straight to the next scene.”
At the words ‘next scene’, Yeo Woon tensed up. Go Hyun Ah approached Yeo Woon and whispered softly.
“Miss Yeo Woon. Don’t worry about me, just act comfortably.”
At Go Hyun Ah’s words, filled with affection, Yeo Woon nodded with a touched expression.

When the camera light came on, Yeo Woon immediately transformed into Cha Yeon Joo. The set was filled with a palpable tension.
Knock, knock. There was a knock and Go Hyun Ah brought coffee, setting it down on the table in front of Yeo Woon.
“What were you thinking about while making the coffee?”
“……I didn’t think about anything.”
“Is that so? I thought I told you to think. To understand the situation better.”
Go Hyun Ah slightly furrowed her brows as she looked at Yeo Woon. Yeo Woon stood up from her seat and faced Go Hyun Ah. Then she pushed Go Hyun Ah’s shoulder unpleasantly with her finger.
“I’ve seen many people fall apart because they covet things that aren’t meant for them. One should know their place.”
Go Hyun Ah opened her mouth with an expression of unfairness surging within her.
“What on earth have I done to….”
Swish!
Go Hyun Ah’s head spun around.
“Cut. Let’s do it again.”
At Director Byun’s words, Yeo Woon was startled and opened her mouth wide.
What to do?! An NG?
Director Byun Ju Ho spoke, narrowing his brow as if he was dissatisfied.

“Miss Yeo Woon. You spit out nasty words but slap like a baby. How is that supposed to work?”
“Ah, I’m sorry.”
Yeo Woon bowed her head and immediately approached Go Hyun Ah, gently patting her cheek.
Her expression was apologetic, not knowing what to do.
“I’m sorry! Are you okay, Hyun Ah?”
Go Hyun Ah swept the inside of her cheek with her tongue. But her grimace lasted only for a moment. She soon smiled and looked at Yeo Woon.
“Miss Yeo Woon, I’m fine, so don’t be scared and just finish it off strongly in one go. Okay?”
“Yes. I’m sorry! I’ll definitely do better this time!”

When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
