Lasiel’s limp collapse was seared vividly into Raphelian’s eyes.

“Lasiel!!”

At the sudden cry, the music filling the banquet hall ceased.

The murmuring crowd fell silent, leaving only the sound of footsteps echoing through the hall.

Yet not long after, even those footsteps striking the marble floor stopped.

“…….”

Raphelian stared at the fallen Lasiel with an indescribable expression.

He knew he should rush over and lift her into his arms, yet his legs refused to move—his feet rooted to the floor as if nailed down, leaving him utterly helpless.

Beside his still form, several pairs of footsteps, each with a different weight, hurried past with sharp, rapid taps.

“Miss, please come to your senses. Miss.”

Jane caught Lasiel just before she hit the floor, fortunately preventing her head from striking the ground.

Yet because Lasiel remained unconscious, Jane’s voice calling her name sounded pitifully distressed.

At the tremor in Jane’s voice, the hushed whispers reignited, and all eyes turned toward them.

Pushing through the crowd, Michaela hurried over, took Lasiel from Jane, and held her close as if to hide her away.

She checked Lasiel’s breathing and pulse, then gently shook her by the shoulders.
