Duke Pentra controlled his expression to hide his conflicted feelings and relayed the report he’d received.

“Marquis Mosteros has inherited the dukedom and simultaneously announced his fiancée as the next Duchess. However, we’ve received intelligence that Grand Duke Calio has kidnapped the future Duchess.”

“Oh my! Has Michaela finally handed her over… Wait, what? The future Duchess was kidnapped?”

Sevrina genuinely jumped in shock, instantly turning deathly pale.

“Didn’t we see her from afar before? Lasiel Abellon—the girl they said was Mosteros’s benefactor?”

When her husband pointed it out so directly, Sevrina felt a chill run down her spine.

‘This is completely different from what I heard from him! That girl is the next Duchess? He told me they’d only support her and had no intention of involving her in that way!’

Her heart began pounding rapidly with the premonition that this matter would escalate.

Sevrina hesitated whether to confess the truth right then, but the words stuck in her throat at the sight of her husband’s eyes, filled with unwavering trust in her.

“I was just as surprised as you. But there’s nothing for you to worry about. I haven’t met the Grand Duke recently, so it’ll be fine. Go back to sleep. Sorry for waking you.”

Duke Pentra, a tiger shifter with a temperament similar to Mosteros, trusted his partner completely. Incapable even of entertaining suspicion toward his beloved, he instead reassured Sevrina and left the bedroom.
