Jin Wook stepped out of the car, dressed in a crisp black suit without a single wrinkle.

The sweltering weather had finally cooled down, and a refreshing autumn breeze greeted him.

In Jin Wook’s hand was a bouquet of flowers. He told his driver to wait and headed somewhere. Passing through the parking lot, he climbed a grassy wooden staircase and entered a building.

Inside the building, there was no sign of people; it was quiet and carried a cool, serene atmosphere. With every step Jin Wook took, the sound of his shoes echoed through the silent space.

His footsteps halted as he walked across the marble floor. His gaze fixed straight ahead. At the end of his line of sight was a framed photograph enclosed within a square compartment.

Inside the frame was a familiar face—one he hadn’t seen in far too long. Pale skin, clear dark-brown eyes, and a gentle smile—the person in the photo was none other than Yeon Joo’s mother, Mi Hyun.

Her eye color and the curve of her lips when smiling were exactly like Yeon Joo’s.

So this was how she used to smile before she collapsed.

Looking at the photograph, it was a smile that inevitably made him miss Yeon Joo.

Jin Wook placed the bouquet in front of the cinerary urn labeled “Shin Mi Hyun” and bowed deeply in greeting.

Jin Wook had taken time during his lunch break at work to visit the columbarium where Mi Hyun was enshrined. Since Yeon Joo had become pregnant, it had been difficult for her to come here, so Jin Wook came alone.
