The Wife Who Ran Away (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 7
Early morning. Yeon Joo was unusually busy.
“Thud, thud, thud….”
Yeon Joo was chopping green onions in one corner of the kitchen. Long green onions were being finely sliced on the cutting board.
She tossed the chopped green onions into a bubbling earthenware pot. Then, wearing kitchen mitts, she carried the pot to the dining room.
In the dining room, Jin Wook was already seated at the dining table. Dressed in a white shirt and black tie, he was looking at something on his tablet—probably reviewing work-related documents.
Yeon Joo placed the steaming earthenware pot at the center of the table. Surrounding it were various delicious side dishes she had spent the last hour preparing.
Normally, meals were prepared by the housekeeper, but today Yeon Joo had personally made everything. She rarely got the chance to share breakfast with Jin Wook.
Due to frequent business trips and a packed schedule, Jin Wook spent very little time at home. Even though they were married, they barely managed to eat together once a month.
So whenever they did have a meal together, Yeon Joo would wake up before dawn to cook. To her, moments like this were precious.
After removing her apron, Yeon Joo sat down opposite Jin Wook. Even while eating, Jin Wook kept his eyes fixed on his tablet.
There was no conversation between them; only the sound of spoons clinking against bowls filled the silence.
Yeon Joo stared quietly at Jin Wook as he ate, then finally asked,
“How is it?”
Only then did Jin Wook look up from his tablet and meet her gaze.
“What?”
“The flavor of the soybean paste stew. I haven’t made it in a while, so I’m not sure if it turned out well.”
“It’s good.”
With that brief reply, Jin Wook returned his focus to his tablet.
Yeon Joo scooped up a spoonful of rice and looked at him again. Since he usually came home late at night, if not now, she didn’t know when she’d get another chance to talk with him like this.
She began to bring up the things she’d wanted to tell him.
“I visited your older brother’s house yesterday.”
“….”
“I gave them the baby gift and saw the baby—the baby was so cute. To me, it looked a lot like your brother.”
Thinking Jin Wook would agree once he saw the baby’s face, Yeon Joo picked up her phone.
“I have some photos—do you want to take a look?”
“No thanks. Obviously, genetically, the baby would resemble either the father or the mother.”
Disheartened by his indifferent response, Yeon Joo set her phone back down.
She’d assumed he’d show interest since it was about his nephew, but apparently, it wasn’t even worth discussing to him.
Yeon Joo’s lips pressed tightly together, and the quiet meal resumed.
Even though they were together, it didn’t feel like they were. In fact, eating together felt lonelier than eating alone.
“….”
Noticing he was nearly finished with his meal, Yeon Joo slowly spoke up.
“Do you think you could make some time next weekend?”
Next week marked their wedding anniversary. She didn’t insist on celebrating it extravagantly, but she thought it would be nice to at least share a meal together.
“If it’s alright, maybe we could…”
“I have a business trip to the U.S. that week.”
“For how many days?”
“Five.”
Even as he answered, Jin Wook remained absorbed in his tablet. From his expression, it was clear he had no idea their anniversary was that week.
She hadn’t expected much, but she still felt disappointed. A tinge of regret slipped into her voice as she spoke through slightly downturned lips.
“I’d heard there’s a nice place nearby with beautiful scenery and delicious food, so I thought we could go together… I guess we’ll go another time.”
For a moment, Jin Wook pulled his wallet from inside his jacket. He took out a black card and handed it to Yeon Joo.
“Go out with your friends.”
“….”
“Stop by the department store and buy anything you want.”
Yeon Joo’s eyes slowly darkened.
He seemed unaware that she had few friends to begin with—and since getting married, she didn’t have a single close friend she could comfortably meet.
As Yeon Joo simply stared at the card he’d offered, Jin Wook’s phone rang.
“Rrrrr, Rrrrr.”
The screen displayed “Ju Min Hee”—his secretary’s name.

Jin Wook glanced at the phone, then set the card down in front of Yeon Joo.
“I’ll leave first.”
He stood up, answered the call, slipped on his suit jacket, and headed straight for the front door.
With the sound of the front door closing, deep silence settled over the house.
Left alone in the dining room, Yeon Joo stared for a moment at the card he’d left behind before picking up her spoon again.
Though the table was laden with delicacies from land and sea, nothing tasted good.
In the end, Yeon Joo barely managed a few spoonfuls before clearing away breakfast.

“Mrs. Cha Yeon Joo, you have a cold constitution, so improving your body’s internal balance should be the priority. Cold constitution can cause poor blood circulation and reduced ovarian function.”
Yeon Joo sat with a blank expression. In front of her, the clinic director was earnestly explaining while showing her medical records.
“We’ll prescribe herbal medicine that warms your body. Please take it consistently, and also maintain regular meals and proper body temperature through healthy daily habits.”
“….”
“Additionally, acupuncture and moxibustion therapy would be beneficial. We’ll target specific acupoints that affect your uterus for these treatments.”
Yeon Joo replied calmly.
“Yes. I’ll do that.”
“To your immediate left upon exiting this room is the moxibustion therapy room. I’ll come over as soon as I’m ready.”
“Alright.”
Just as Yeon Joo was about to rise from her chair, the director glanced subtly at her and spoke.
“Your mother-in-law actually called a few days ago—she repeatedly asked me to take special care of you.”
The “mother-in-law” he referred to was none other than Jin Wook’s mother, Ae Ran. After Yeon Joo saw no results from the previous clinic she’d visited, Ae Ran had recommended this new one.
‘They say it’s the most famous clinic in Korea—if there’s been no effect after more than a year, it’s no better than quackery.’
‘Just last month, the second daughter-in-law of KM Chemical finally got pregnant after two months of treatment here.’
Ever since receiving Ae Ran’s business card a month ago, Yeon Joo had been regularly visiting this clinic. She never missed a dose of the herbal medicine and consistently made time for acupuncture and moxibustion sessions.
“Your mother-in-law clearly adores you as a daughter-in-law. People like her are hard to come by these days. Haha.”
The director chuckled heartily—a laugh he absolutely wouldn’t have made if he could see what was truly in Yeon Joo’s heart.
“If you keep up with the treatment, I’m confident you’ll see good results.”
Yeon Joo responded only with a faint smile before silently leaving the director’s office.

“Mrs. Cha Yeon Joo.”
Yeon Joo turned at the sound of her name.
She’d just finished her moxibustion session and was about to leave the clinic.
When she turned around, a female staff member from the front desk was approaching her.
The staff member held a rectangular shopping bag and said to Yeon Joo with a warm smile,
“I completely forgot to give you this earlier. It is your wedding anniversary today, isn’t it?”
Surprised, Yeon Joo asked,
“Oh… yes. How did you know?”
“For our VIP members, we note special occasions like wedding anniversaries, holidays, and Christmas in addition to birthdays, so we can offer personalized care.”
Yeon Joo hadn’t even realized the clinic had a VIP membership program—it was clear just how generously Ae Ran must have compensated the director.
Nonetheless, since the gift was already prepared, it didn’t feel right to refuse it, so Yeon Joo accepted the shopping bag.
“Thank you.”
As Yeon Joo turned to leave, the staff member cheerfully added,
“Happy wedding anniversary! I hope you have a wonderful day.”

By the time Yeon Joo returned home after her clinic appointment, the sun had already set and darkness filled the sky.
The only one welcoming her in the spacious house was the housekeeper.
“Welcome back, Mrs. Cha.”
The housekeeper bowed slightly and asked,
“Have you had dinner? If not, I can prepare something for you.”
“No, I’m not hungry. I’ll eat something on my own later.”
Yeon Joo, looking somewhat tired, headed toward her dressing room as she spoke.

“Thank you for your hard work. Please go rest.”
“Yes, Mrs. Cha.”
As Yeon Joo entered the dressing room and began removing her coat, the housekeeper knocked and stepped inside.
“Mrs. Cha.”
“?”
“I’ve left your herbal medicine in plain sight, so please remember to warm it thoroughly before drinking.”
Yeon Joo’s expression hardened slightly. Sensing this, the housekeeper quickly added,
“I’m sorry—your mother-in-law specifically instructed me to remind you three times a day…”
“….”
“Then I’ll take my leave. Please rest well.”
No wonder the housekeeper had been so insistent about the herbal medicine…
It didn’t even surprise Yeon Joo that Ae Ran had contacted the housekeeper directly—this was exactly the kind of thing she’d expect.
With a bitter smile, Yeon Joo continued undressing when she noticed the shopping bag on the floor—the one given to her at the clinic as a wedding anniversary gift. Judging by the logo on the bag, it contained luxury cosmetics.
‘Happy wedding anniversary! I hope you have a wonderful day.’
The image of the cheerful, unfamiliar staff member’s bright congratulatory smile flashed before her eyes.
“….”
Staring blankly at the shopping bag, Yeon Joo picked up her phone and checked her messages.
Today marked the fourth day since Jin Wook had left for his business trip to the U.S.
He still hadn’t contacted her once.

My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband
This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.

The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.
They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.
In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.
When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.
She makes his life a living hell.
And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.
Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!
Intro
Dong Xia lost her memory.
Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.
Notes:
1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.
2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
