Yeonju and Jinwook got out of the taxi together. After walking a bit from the main road and turning into an alley, they soon saw Mina’s house not far away.
As Jinwook arrived in front of the house, he examined the building’s exterior and its surroundings. The building looked old, and the narrow alley, with almost no streetlights, seemed unsafe. His determination to bring Yeonju away from here as soon as possible deepened.
Yeonju and Jinwook entered the building and headed to the second floor. When they pressed the doorbell, footsteps quickly approached, and Mina opened the door with joy upon seeing Yeonju.
“Miss Yeonju!”
Mina embraced Yeonju as soon as she saw her, tears welling up in her eyes.
“When I came back home yesterday, Yeonju’s room was all neat, with just the luggage bags. I was so worried, thinking I couldn’t see Yeonju like this…”
Yeonju, also teary-eyed, hugged her back.
“I’m sorry. I couldn’t tell you sooner…”
“No, now that I see you like this, it’s enough.”
After wiping away her tears, Mina said, “I heard roughly from Minwoo. So, what happened?”

Mina looked suspiciously at Jinwook, who was standing behind Yeonju.
“You’re going to live with that man again? Wasn’t it because you didn’t want to live with him that you came here?”
Mina scrutinized Jinwook with a doubtful gaze. To dispel any worries that might arise from not knowing him, Yeonju quickly explained.
“No… He lacks some tact, and his emotional expression is a bit lacking, but he’s not such a bad person. Don’t worry.”
“…The more I hear that, the more worried I become…”
Seeing Mina’s lack of trust, Yeonju looked at Jinwook, and he took out a business card from his suit and handed it to her.
“Hello. Are you Miss Song Mina?”
“Ah… Yes.”
“Let me formally introduce myself. I am Cha Jinwook, Yeonju’s husband.”
He pierced Mina with a steady and sincere gaze as he handed her the business card.

“I’ve heard a lot from Yeonju. Thank you for taking care of her all this time.”
“…”
“I admit that I had many shortcomings as a husband. From now on, I will do my best to ensure Yeonju doesn’t experience any unhappiness. Please don’t worry.”
Mina, somewhat relieved by Jinwook’s confident and genuine demeanor, expressed a hint of trust.
However, as she scrutinized Jinwook’s face again, there was no flaw in any feature or part of his head. He had a face and charisma that elicited admiration each time she looked. She knew he was handsome, but now, his flawless appearance began to bother her. She worried if Yeonju would not get tired living with such a man. While Mina still hesitated to fully trust Jinwook, Yeonju realized they were standing in front of the entrance and suggested to her.
“Sister, let’s go inside and discuss the rest of it.”
A checkered tablecloth covered the dining table, and the four people sat facing each other.
Yeonju and Jinwook sat side by side, while on the opposite side, Mina and Minwoo had serious expressions. Having heard everything from Yeonju about what had happened so far and their future plans, Mina nodded and said,
“So that’s how it is… Then when are you going back to Korea?”
“Mr. Jinwook has left his seat empty for too long. Also, I want to go as early as possible to greet my family. I plan to leave on the evening flight today.”

“Oh, so soon?”
Mina said with a disappointed expression, “Can’t you stay a little longer? It’s too sad to part so quickly.”
“I’m sorry. I also want to stay a bit longer, but…”
Yeonju glanced at Jinwook. Jinwook’s expression indicated that he wanted Yeonju not to spend even a day here.
Jinwook lowered his head to Mina and said, “Thank you for taking good care of Yeonju all this time.”
Then, he took something out from his suit jacket and handed it to Mina. Looking at the envelope with a puzzled expression, Mina asked, “What’s this?” Jinwook replied,
“It’s a small token of appreciation. Please accept it as a gesture of gratitude. Don’t refuse, just take it.”
What Jinwook handed over was an envelope with several checks inside. Mina immediately shook her head and handed the envelope back.
“No, I haven’t done anything deserving of this. Besides, I didn’t live with the intention of expecting something like this.”
Mina confidently stated, “I lived with Yeonju because I truly like her.”

“…”
“Contrary to everyone else… The more I look at her, the cuter and lovelier she seems… I really wanted to live with her forever.”
Mina’s pupils, gazing at Yeonju, trembled.
“But now you’re leaving so soon…”
Unable to continue her words about parting with Yeonju, Mina cried, tears flowing down. Seeing Mina’s sorrowful state, Yeonju also teared up.
“Why are you crying again, Sister?”
“Sorry. I should be sending you off with a smile, but tears keep coming out…”
As the two shared tears and comforted each other, Jinwook’s gaze was directed toward Minwoo, who was sitting beside Mina.
Throughout Yeonju’s story, Minwoo remained silent, just sitting there.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
