“Yeonju.”
The husband, with a devastated expression, hung his head.
“Give me a chance.”
It was a strange thing.
Seeing that cold man crumble, she felt nothing.
No pity for him,
No desire to stroke his hair,
No inclination to say the usual ‘it’s okay.’
She had no lingering feelings or expectations for him.
All she wished for was that he wouldn’t do anything for her anymore.

With empty eyes, she looked at him and said,
“I don’t want to go back.”
Her cold words twisted his face in pain.
The husband grasped her hand. A slight tremor came from his grip.
“What can I do to change your mind?”
“…….”
“Tell me. How can I win back your heart?”
Hot tears fell onto the back of her hand he held.
She silently watched the tears wetting her skin.
If only you had shed these tears a little earlier,

If only you had cried for me just once during all that time…
I might not have left you.
“Stop it.”
It’s already too late.
I always wanted to escape from that place.
I was nothing more than a doll there.
It was never my life.
“It’s all over now.”
I don’t want to be your wife anymore.
“Yeonju… are you possibly pregnant?”

Yeonju, who was preparing tea in the kitchen, looked at her mother-in-law Aeran with startled eyes.
“What?”
“No, you didn’t eat much at dinner, saying you had no appetite. When you’re pregnant, digestion can be difficult. It was like that for me when I was pregnant with Jinwook.”
Without giving Yeonju a chance to respond, Aeran quickly continued.
“Do you feel bloated, like you’ve overeaten? Have you used a pregnancy test?”
Yeonju was at a loss for words in the face of Aeran’s barrage of questions. She replied in a slightly subdued voice.
“It’s not pregnancy, mother-in-law. It’s just some indigestion.”
“Don’t just say that, try a test…”
“I just finished my period two days ago.”
That statement caused Aeran’s lips to drop. The small hope that had been in her eyes disappeared. Aeran turned around, showing her back, and then let out a long sigh.

“Phew…”
The sigh was so loud that Yeonju’s shoulders involuntarily shrank.
“Are you taking the herbal medicine I gave you properly?”
“Yes. I’m taking it regularly.”
“And the supplements?”
“I’m taking those too.”
“You’re not drinking alcohol or eating a lot of greasy food, are you?”
“I avoid greasy food as much as possible, and I don’t drink at all.”
“Think about it, you ate pork tonight. Pork and flour are cold in nature. You should avoid these foods too. Didn’t I tell you repeatedly?”
The relentless nagging continued without a break, and Yeonju clenched her lips. She knew that responding would only prolong the lecturing, so she chose to remain silent.

Whether Aeran was aware of Yeonju’s darkening face or not, she let out another big sigh. Wrinkles crowded her forehead as she spoke.
“No… It’s been almost 2 years since you started trying for a baby. How can there be no news? Both of you are young.”
“…….”
“Could there be a problem with your body? You should go to the hospital for a thorough examination.”
It was at that moment, as Aeran’s words stabbed at her heart,
“Stop it.”
A deep voice came from the direction of the dining room. Aeran and Yeonju simultaneously turned their heads.
“Stressing her out like that won’t help her get pregnant.”
“Yeonju.”
The man standing tall with broad shoulders was Cha Jinwook. He was Yeonju’s husband and Aeran’s son.
Jinwook approached Yeonju and looked at Aeran.

“Don’t nag her. We are doing our best.”
Aeran’s forehead wrinkled at her son’s blunt words.
“It’s already been two years since you got married. How can I not nag?”
“…….”
“Just imagine what would happen if your sister-in-law suddenly announced her pregnancy to grandfather. Right now, the chairman would gladly hand over the management rights just for a great-grandchild.”
Her voice rose with frustration.
“In a situation where the chairman is already favoring Inhyuk, getting a great-grandchild would end the game.”
“…….”
“So, by any means, before your brother, you should have a child…”
“We’re leaving now.”

Jinwook coldly cut off Aeran’s words and wrapped his hand around Yeonju’s shoulder.
Yeonju’s eyes slightly wavered at the touch on her shoulder.
As Jinwook turned to leave with her, Aeran showed a disappointed face.
“Already?”
She pointed at the tea and fruit prepared by Yeonju.
“At least have some tea. You come home once a month and just leave after eating, that’s disappointing.”
“If mother keeps nagging Yeonju like this, it won’t be once a month but never.”
Jinwook’s icy gaze made Aeran swallow her words. Even though he was her son, she often lost her words when Jinwook looked at her that way.
“We’re going.”
He left the kitchen with his hand still on Yeonju’s shoulder.

A sedan pulled up in front of a luxurious two-story mansion.
Jinwook got out of the driver’s seat, followed by Yeonju from the passenger side.
The two entered the mansion. The house was clean and spacious, and eerily quiet.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
