After a deep, restful sleep, I arrived at my destination.

“Wait a moment. I need to get entry permission.”

Hadel spoke with the gatekeeper. In the meantime, with nothing else to do, I stood beside my horse and glanced around.

‘The name of this place is Neris, right?’

Even at a glance, it was more prosperous than Hadel’s domain. Many people passed through the city gate.

‘I feel like I’ve passed through here before. That wall looks familiar. Even that dent over there seems like something I made.’

At first, I wasn’t sure, but the more I looked, the more the terrain felt familiar and memories began to surface.

‘I fought a major battle against dark elves around here.’

Now the city looked bright under the sunlight, but back then it had been dark, with hardly any sun reaching the ground. Strangely, wherever dark-aligned races stayed, clouds always blocked the sun.

Just thinking of dark elves made my face frown involuntarily.

‘Dark elves were truly the worst. Their enchanted arrows caused endless trouble.’

I don’t know what kind of magic they cast, but wounds from those arrows quickly rotted away. Even outside wartime, in a world where sepsis was the leading cause of death, dark elf arrows were deadly.

But now those dreadful memories existed only in my mind. Seeing the city, completely free of any trace of war, I gave a bitter smile.

‘A hundred years since that war—yet such a peaceful city has risen upon it.’

It truly felt like ages had passed.
