The knight was so astonished that I was startled by his expression. He looked at me intently and murmured.
“Usually, they can’t withstand it immediately. Aren’t animals even less resistant to mana than humans?”
“This one is different. It greedily absorbs the flames.”
An accurate analysis.
‘Ugh, I thought he was clumsy with mana, but he’s quite sensitive. Something’s off balance here.’
People who can’t control mana typically don’t feel it seeping out and can’t finely control it.
But Hadal was feeling the mana. He could even give just a faint flame for a small stoat like me.
‘Then, isn’t he producing too much mana in his heart?’
Water will splash no matter how narrow the bottle neck is if it pours too rapidly. Hadal seemed to be in such a state.
‘If his heart is producing too much mana, he must be suffering a lot. Impressive endurance.’
Observing him might be worthwhile.
As I was assessing Hadal’s condition, the knight examined me and exclaimed.
“The stoat is quite adorable. I’ve never seen a white stoat with pink tips on its ears and tail.”
‘I am quite pretty.’
I preened at the compliment. However, Hadal’s response was indifferent.
“A pretty stoat is still a stoat.”
“Vwiioo?!”
‘What did you just say?’
Are you belittling me because I’m a stoat? Is that it?
Glaring sharply at Hadal, I found myself cowering at his intense gaze.
Hadal frowned deeply, observing me, and stated emphatically.
“If it were a horse or a large animal like a tiger, I would have trained it for riding, but that’s a pity.”
“It’s indeed troublesome for Your Grace, the Duke, to be unable to ride a horse.”
The knight chimed in, seemingly in agreement. Their conversation made me blink in confusion.
‘Can’t ride a horse? Why? Because of burns?’
From our first encounter, Hadal was puzzled about why I wasn’t getting burnt, indicating that other animals couldn’t tolerate the flames he emitted for even a moment.
Sure, not being able to ride a horse would be inconvenient. But, come on.
‘Are you saying I’m useless because of that!?’
“Vwiioo!”
All life is sacred. The value of life is not in its utility!
I was protesting with a series of “vwiioo” sounds when Hadal’s gaze flickered lightly. He looked down at me, slightly lifting his chin with a cold voice, adding,
“Now that I think about it, it does seem quite pretty. Maybe I should make a scarf out of it.”
“Hiccup!”
I hiccupped at the return of being treated as scarf material.
‘So, you’re going to skin me after all? Thought I was interesting…’
In Hadal’s gaze, there wasn’t a trace of warmth. My little body was tightly gripped in his hand.
I was in despair.
‘Is this the price for being tempted by bread!’
But I couldn’t give up that bread. After starving for over a week, wouldn’t any stoat lose its mind?
‘Oh, the tragedy, seduced by bread, I meet my end.’
“Vwiioo, vwiioo…”
Sorrowfully, I cried again. Hadal’s finger pressed down on my head. I stopped crying and glared at him.
‘Why are you pressing down? Can’t you see I’m crying because of you?’
But strangely, looking down at me, Hadal seemed to be wearing a faint smile.
My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband
This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.
The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.
They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.
In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.
When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.
She makes his life a living hell.
And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.
Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!
Intro
Dong Xia lost her memory.
Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.
Notes:
1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.
