If I had been a larger animal, I could have clung to Hadal’s arm or leg and hugged him, but all I could embrace was his finger.

Hadal looked down at me with an indecipherable expression and murmured,

“It’s fascinating that you seem completely unaffected.”

Through Hadal’s hand, a powerful flame flowed into me. I clung to his hand, dizzily, like someone intoxicated.

“Vwiio.”

Ah, it’s warm.

‘It’s great to have a full stomach, but the sensation of flame filling my heart is even better.’

I wanted to feel warmer, to have that flame fill my heart even more because I knew how delightful it felt.

‘The sensation of something better is always tempting.’

As if the flames were traveling up my veins, I unwittingly stuck out my tongue and licked his hand. Instantly, a more intense flame filled me than mere contact had provided.

‘Oh!’

My eyes widened in surprise. The sensation of warmth throughout my body was so intense that, unlike before when I felt like melted cheese, now my body stiffened and trembled.

‘What, what is this pleasure?’

This man, aged like a fine fruit wine for ten years! Why does such a dangerous flame flow from him?

Amusingly, Hadal seemed to feel a tingle as well. His red eyes stared intently at me.

“You….”

‘Gasp!’

His gaze was fixed on my pointed snout. I buried my snout in my short front paws.

‘It felt so good absorbing his mana that my tongue slipped out without realizing.’

Bad mouth! Bad mouth!

Who will resolve my embarrassment? As I trembled and chastised myself, Hadal frowned and asked incredulously,

“……Don’t tell me you were trying to suck on my finger, not bite it?”

No, I did mean to bite.

‘But admitting that means confessing my pettiness.’

Envious of someone else’s flame because mine had disappeared. Another wave of embarrassment swept over me. I twisted my body, making “vwiio vwiio” sounds.

Misinterpreting my response, Hadal rested his chin on his hand and nodded.

“So that’s it. You’re much younger than I thought. That’s why you can’t control your strength, and you don’t even know what you should be eating, hence your liking for cookies….”

That’s not it.

‘We might be of similar age, for all you know.’

But conveying that to him seemed impossible. I shook my head and curled up.

‘Let it be. I’m full and warm now.’

‘This must be heaven.’

As I flopped onto my back, Hadal watched me and then carefully picked me up.

“Let’s brush off the cookie crumbs before you sleep.”

Unexpectedly considerate of him.

He gently brushed the crumbs out of my fur, his warmth fluctuating like the sun’s rays.

‘But really, can’t he control his flames?’

Maintaining a constant temperature shouldn’t be that hard.

‘How much mana must be flowing out of him?’

If I were still in my human form, I could have placed my hand on his chest to scan his condition, but in my current form, all I could do was absorb the warmth he offered.

‘I’ll find a way if I stay by his side.’

Maybe then I could make him a bit more comfortable.

‘No rush.’

For now, I was content with being full and warm. As I relaxed, Hadal placed me on the cushion on the floor.

“Sleep now. It’s still a long way until morning.”

“Vwiio?”
And you?

After placing me on the cushion, Hadal walked not towards the bed but to a corner of the room. There stood a stand-alone clothes hanger.

He casually took off his shirt in front of it, which made me quickly turn my head away.

‘Gosh, startled me! Why is he undressing so abruptly?’

But it was silly to expect a stoat to announce, ‘I’m going to undress now.’

Turning away, I inadvertently got a chance to observe Hadal’s room. It was so plain that it hardly needed a thorough look. I sighed with boredom.

‘What’s this? Some kind of obsession?’

Hadal’s room was enveloped in deep grey, not in the literal sense of decor, but due to its emptiness and the cold ambiance. He seemed to have removed anything flammable.

‘Usually, bed frames are made of wood, but this one’s metal. No curtains either.’

There was a fireplace, but no wood. He probably had no choice but to leave the inflammable mattress and blankets, but everything else seemed to have been cleared away.

‘Shouldn’t there at least be a mirror, a sofa, or a table?’

There was no wardrobe; his clothes were all hung on the stand-alone hanger.

‘So spacious, yet so desolate?’

Aren’t there supposed to be books, at least? I’d like to read, preferably a history book.

‘What era is it now? The war seems to be over, but how much time has passed?’

Finding nothing more to explore, I buried my head in the cushion.

‘If I only knew Hadal’s full name, I could figure out where I am. I guess I have no choice but to ask him.’

What’s your full name? Tell me your name.

As Hadal finished dressing and walked towards me, I opened and closed my mouth a few times.

‘It’s hard to pronounce with my stoat mouth structure, but let’s give it a try. It’s only seven letters.’

I tried to relax and said,

“Vwiio vwiio vwiio.”

……Ah, it’s useless.

Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away

This is also on my reread list!

This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.

Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.

But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.

Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.

I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.

The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.

As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
