With all her strength, she hurled the tightly clenched perfume bottle out the window.

“Ah…….”

Her body swayed as if it had been hit by a powerful wave.

The nausea that started welled up, blocking her throat, and she began to breathe heavily.

Along with an unbearable dizziness.

Her husband’s face, covered in confusion, vanished like sand swept away by a wave.

Darkness came upon her world.

“Lamein!!”

Cedric shouted, looking at Lamein, who had fallen limply before his eyes.

‘Dangerous!’

Her body was collapsing towards the table with a glass vase.

“Madam!!”

Clang!

The glass that Jane dropped let out a sharp noise as it hit the floor.

Chaos enveloped the room.

With a jaw aching from clenching his teeth, Cedric reached out for her.

Just before her body collapsed onto the table.

He tightly wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her to him, but,

“……Ugh!!”

Lifting her body, which had already lost its balance, was not easy.

Cedric’s balance broke.

“……!”

If she fell like this, her small body would crush the glass vase on the table.

‘No!’

He pulled her body tightly to his chest.

And quickly twisted the direction of his body.

Bang! Clang!

“Aaah! My lord!!”

Three distinct sounds echoed in the room.

“Uuuugh!!”

And then, Cedric’s groan mixed with pain.

A sharp sensation stabbed into his back, making Cedric’s lips tremble.

Still, he held her tighter in his arms.

“My lord! Are you alright?”

Hearing Jane’s screaming voice, he barely lifted his eyes.

“……Jane. Call Robeldo.”

“Yes! Just a moment!!”

Cedric’s body, feigning calmness, began to be stained with red blood from underneath.

Where is this place?

A chilling darkness pervades the space.

‘Is it a dream again?’

Lamein, who had been walking through the pitchblack space where she could barely see a step ahead, shook her head.

‘What’s this? What’s this dress? And why am I so small?’

She slowly lifted the hand that had been grasping her mudcovered hem into the air.

As she examined the small hand she raised in the darkness, then,

‘Ugh! It’s dazzling!’

She squinted her eyes from the sharp light.

Stomp, stomp.

Footsteps resonated clearly in the dark.

Slowly opening her eyes, the world, which had lost its focus, began to become clear again.

‘Zelda Mayers.’

A man called a strange name as he approached.

Walking towards her with his back to the light, the man’s face slowly revealed itself in the darkness.

‘Heter Callips?’

Looking with furrowed brows, the face was that of her father, Duke Heter Callips, but it looked much younger than the last time she saw him.

‘Zelda Mayers.’

He called someone’s name again and stopped in front of her.

‘From now on, you’ll live as Lamein Callips. Understand?’

He tossed something in front of her, comforting her with a soft voice.

‘……!’

A young fox, violently shaking and badly wounded.

For a moment, she looked at the man standing before her with eyes shaking as if there had been an earthquake.

‘Can you show me your ability once?’
Lamein staggered back, her head shaking frantically.

“If not, you will have to die like your parents.”

An endless fear began to creep in.

“No. Don’t… don’t do this.”

Stumbling back, her foot caught on something and she couldn’t move any further.

“Quickly show me your ability and make me happy.”

“I can’t… I can’t do this. Don’t do it.”

“No. I didn’t bring you here to act like a child.”

The man’s eyes began to feel alive, and her body trembled.

“Don’t you see the people waiting for you?”

The man turned his body slightly, a chilling smile on his lips.

“Now. Look closely.”

And he reached into the darkness where nothing could be seen.

Flash!

A sharp, blinding light spread again.

“Eek!!!”

Lamein, recognizing the world spread out under the light, collapsed to the floor.

“Please… save me. Please…”

“Here… me first…ugh!!”

A world stained red with blood, as if a storm of blood had swept through.

Men rolling on the dirt floor, covered in blood.

A literal brutal battlefield.

Frightening eyes, with burst blood vessels, seemed to swallow her whole.

“Don’t you want to live?”

“….”

“The moment I win this war, you can live comfortably.”

It’s a lie. No.

“Go and save those dying people! Make this father happy.”

A desirefilled look in the man’s eyes gave her chills.

There was no doubt that he was mad now.

Lamein, who had been staring fiercely, suddenly opened her eyes.

“Why… why my body. No. Don’t go, Lamein. Don’t go!”

Her body wouldn’t listen.

No sound escaped her trembling lips.

Her small, shaking body took a frightened step toward the bloodstained world.

With eyes consumed by fear, she approached the people calling her.

“Mom, I’m sorry I broke my promise.”

Tears fell drop by drop from her round eyes, soaking the bloodsoaked dirt.

“But I’m so scared. I want to live.”

She collapsed in front of a man reaching out to her, bleeding.

Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away

This is also on my reread list!

This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.

Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.

But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.

Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.

I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.

The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.

As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
