I could barely see Askan’s face obscured by darkness, but I recognized him just by his silhouette because we had been together for so long.
I didn’t know why Askan was here at this late hour. But judging from the load he was carrying, it was clear that he hadn’t come out for a stroll.
This suspicious scene caught my eye, and it must have been an unmistakable situation for Zen.
Above all, Askan couldn’t beat Zen yet. No, if the two began to exert their powers, the Brelopf mansion would be devastated.
‘What on earth is going on!’
My mind went blank, but the situation was quickly becoming dire enough for me to realize that something bad would happen if things continued like this.
“If you don’t answer, I’ll kill you.”
Zen drew the sword he was carrying at his waist. Seeing this, the look in Askan’s eyes also became fierce.
The situation was tense.
My mind was spinning fast.
I could have stepped in and stopped Zen right away, but if Askan had planned to run away, he couldn’t escape that sin.
I couldn’t let it go on like this, but I wasn’t sure if it was right for me to step in either.
I instinctively looked down at the bracelet in my hand.
‘Darn, I don’t know!’
I quickly pricked my finger with the needle I had prepared, drew blood, and dropped it onto the magic stone. Then, I raised the bracelet above my head and shouted inwardly.
‘Start!’
In an instant, an enormous light began to shoot out from the bracelet.
As I had calculated, the hidden power in the magic stone bracelet was indeed light. But I didn’t have time to rejoice at the scene.
I quickly ran to where Askan was and grabbed his hand.
Askan seemed to be blinded by the sudden light, but he seemed to recognize who I was when he heard my soft whisper.
“Follow me.”
And so, I ran towards the mansion, holding Askan’s hand.
[This is the time separator]“Mister!”
Despite the late hour, Matella had no intention of going home.
Barnay looked at Matella with a really annoyed face and said.
“How long will you repeat the same thing?”
“Are you really going to give her such homework and not say anything?”
“Yes. You wanted to become a disciple, didn’t you? Then that’s fine, right? How I teach is my business.”
“It’s a magic engineering weapon. If by any chance the selfdestruct mechanism activates…”
“Ha, you’re worrying about nothing. Does she look that clumsy to you?”
Matella couldn’t respond. The intelligent Tanashia would not blindly bleed on the magic stone.
Matella, who had lost her words for a moment, opened her mouth again to rebut.
“But…!”
“Enough. If she’s my disciple, at least she should guess that the bracelet is made of a light attribute magic stone.”
“Are you testing that?”
“To identify the type by just looking at the color of the magic stone, you need to know all magic attributes. It’s not as easy as it sounds to distinguish roughly what kind of magic stone it is just by the color. It’s a world of difference when you can distinguish hundreds of different colored magic stones at a glance.”
“But if you say that…”
“Of course, that’s not all I want. If she’s done her homework properly, she should know that the power contained in the bracelet is light.”
“Aren’t you expecting too much from the lady who is still in her infancy?”
“Hmph.”
Barnen turned his head abruptly, as if he didn’t want to hear anymore. He didn’t want to listen to the nagging about his teaching method.
Looking at him, Matella spoke as if she could no longer stop him.
“To accurately identify the power hidden in the bracelet, the only way is to directly engrave or disassemble the bracelet and reengrave it. What if you do such an action, Miss?”
“That action? You mean trying to disassemble the bracelet and reengrave it?”
“Yes, that’s right.”
“Ha ha ha, no way. If such an attempt is made, I would highly appreciate the spirit of challenge, but it won’t be successful.”
Barnen thought that if Tanashia was more outstanding than he had guessed, she could try to disassemble it, but it was impossible to succeed in doing so.
It was like saying someone who hadn’t even learned to walk could run. No, it was an even more exaggerated statement.
“Do you know how long it took me to disassemble and succeed with a weapon made by someone else? A whopping 10 years.”
“I mean, if you’re in danger, Miss…”
“Don’t worry unnecessarily. Even if the lock is tampered with incorrectly, it won’t explode. I wouldn’t put such a big magic formula into just light magic.”
“Oh, then you don’t know, do you? You might be successful, right?”
Unable to hide his scoff at Matella’s dreamlike words, Barnen smirked.
“If that child succeeds in disassembly? Then I’ll make you my master.”
No matter how much he thought about it, it was unbelievable.
If Tanashia succeeded in disassembling the bracelet, it meant that an unparalleled genius who had never been in the field of magical engineering had appeared.
Barnen shook his head as if it was ridiculous and chuckled.
“Matella. Stop talking nonsense and please go away.”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
