It was an unexpected visit, but I couldn’t refuse to see Decain who had come directly to the lab.
I hurriedly opened the door and spoke to Jerin.
“Let him in. Oh, by the way, could you fetch some things I used to use from the Brellof mansion?”
“Do you need anything in particular?”
I glanced at Askan who was still standing awkwardly at the spot, and tilted my head towards Jerin.
They were materials from the past, obtained by whipping Askan. Unable to speak confidently due to an awkward pricking in my heart, I whispered in a small voice.
“Do you know the place where I used to store the whip?”
At my question, Jerin’s eyes widened and shivered slightly. Before she could misunderstand anything, I quickly continued.
“You’ll find my notes and various items there. Please bring everything to the lab.”
“Oh, I understand, Miss.”
A sense of relief washed over Jerin’s momentarily tense face.
I had never wielded a whip after I took over this body, but that did not erase the atrocities Tanashia had committed in the past.
It was bitter to feel that I was still a subject of fear to the servants, but knowing that a lengthy explanation wouldn’t change anything, I spoke briefly.
“Please do that for me.”
At my request, Jerin nodded her head vigorously.
I was about to go to the reception room to meet Decain, but hearing footsteps following me, I inadvertently turned my head.
Unexpectedly, it was Askan.
“Where are you going?”
“A guest has arrived, so I must go and see him.”
“No, you don’t need to go out if it’s uncomfortable.”
In the end, I couldn’t ask what conversation Decain and Askan had, but I noticed that the relationship between the two was not very good.
I had no intention of forcing Askan to meet someone he disliked. But for some reason, he seemed to have a different idea.
“So, are you planning to meet him alone, without me?”
“What if I do?”
“I don’t like that.”
Askan was firm. With his downcast eyes emitting a cool light, he spoke in a voice lower than before.
“You once said, ‘Have you ever seen the needle not following the thread?'”
I had made such a remark a few times before. It was a casual comment I made to bring Askan along wherever I went.
“It’s the same now. I can’t help but follow where you go.”
Askan was defending his reasons, but ultimately, he seemed to dislike me meeting Decain alone.
I didn’t understand why the two, who had hardly met, didn’t get along.
But I had no intention of denying Askan’s request. It didn’t matter to me whether the two of us or three of us met.
“Alright. If you wish, let’s go together.”
At my words, a satisfied expression danced across Askan’s stiff face for the first time.
So, escorted by Askan, I arrived at the reception room. Soon after, Decain, who I hadn’t seen in a while and was wearing a mask, swung open the door and entered.
“Tanashia!”
With a bright voice, he was approaching as if he would hug me any moment.
I had no intention of playing along with his behavior, but Askan swiftly stepped in front of Decain, who was heading towards me.
For a moment, a chill swept through Decain’s red eyes. However, it disappeared so quickly that I thought I must have been mistaken.
Decain stopped, still smiling at me. I could see his lips under the mask curling up into a long smile.
“How have you been?”
At his question, I nodded and replied.
“Of course. And you?”
“Oh, I’ve been doing poorly without you.”
I couldn’t help but chuckle at Decain’s blunt remark.
He was a man who made people feel good. Even if he wasn’t sincere, I didn’t mind his playful words.
However, I couldn’t see Askan’s face from where I was, but the atmosphere seemed a little gloomier, which was strange.
“What brings you here?”
“I was taking care of some business in the Arwen Empire after participating in the academic conference. I was about to head back to the Lagent Empire when I received your letter.”
Decain took out the letter in which I wrote that we should proceed as per the family contract, and lightly shook it.
“What is this? You talk big, but you’re saying you came to write a contract, right?”
“No, I came because I missed you.”
Watching Decain correct my words, I laughed again.
“Anyway, you brought the contract, didn’t you?”
“I came because I missed you, but I have to do what I have to do while I’m here.”
“You sure have a way with words.”
Decain sat across from me and extended the real contract he brought.
“Take a look.”
I nodded and read the contract Decain handed me. It was the same as what I had received as a preliminary contract earlier.
There was no reason to hesitate, as I had already consulted with Barnes and Orland and decided to proceed with the contract as it is.
Since the seal was already stamped where it said Egetion Trading Company, all I had to do was confirm and the contract would be completed.
Considering it was an important contract, I casually called Jelin to get a stamp instead of a signature, when I remembered I had sent him to the Breloff house on an errand.
‘Ah, Jelin must be out at the lab.’
My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband
This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.
The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.
They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.
In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.
When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.
She makes his life a living hell.
And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.
Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!
Intro
Dong Xia lost her memory.
Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.
Notes:
1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.
2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
