Enzo, composing his expression, spoke to Laharta and Tarshan, and the two sat down with reluctant faces.

Erina also took her assigned seat.

The table was circular, with no designated head seat.

Since ancient times, the Temple and the Tower had been treated as autonomous institutions, akin to independent nations.

Moreover, since they were not subordinate to the Empire, Enzo had carefully arranged the seating to avoid unnecessary discord.

Though this seating arrangement was the result of Enzo’s long deliberation, judging by the two men’s reactions, it seemed his efforts had been in vain.

The welcoming atmosphere, the table without a head seat, the meticulously selected refreshments and tea—all appeared meaningless to them.

Laharta and Tarshan’s gazes were fixed solely on Erina.

Erina, feeling their intense stares from both sides, didn’t know where to look.

Even so, as this was an official meeting, basic protocol still existed.

Yet the two men, gazing at Erina with affectionate eyes as if looking at a long-lost younger sister, showed no intention of proceeding with formalities.

Enzo let out an audible sigh, clearly exasperated by the Pope and the Arch Sage, who looked as excited as children.

He had suspected something odd from the moment they urgently requested this meeting with Erina.

Though they seemed to have hidden motives, he sensed no threat to either Erina or the Empire.
