Sicar called for Bica and told her to pay Jeremy 50,000 shillings, and Bica dragged a bag over and threw it towards Jeremy.
Jeremy staggered a bit while receiving the moneyfilled bag, but after seeing its contents, he gave a very satisfying grin.
Hmm. A very rough and clean money transaction. But, it seems like it would be quite hard to carry that money and fly back to the airship.
“Thank you, Duke. I will make good use of the money you gave.”
“You can use that money wherever you want. Just go.”
“Then, I look forward to you calling me again!”
Even while sending Jeremy off, Sicar did not give any specific orders. Because through me, he must have already seen how much loyalty Jeremy from the original novel showed in the situation intertwined with Leydocks.
The reason Jeremy visited this ducal house was also impossible if it was not for Leydocks. No matter how much Jeremy is obsessed with money, he would not have helped Sicar, who is on Gillian’s side.
And after seeing Kian, he definitely knew today. That Sicar is no longer Gillian’s man.
Now that Kian’s sentence had been resolved, I was the problem. I felt tense and my body seemed to stiffen thinking about actually seeing Gillian. Sicar knew my state like a ghost.
“You seem nervous?”
Of course, I’m nervous. One of the villain bosses is coming here, how can I not be nervous?
“Are you nervous because you think Gillian will threaten you with a knife just like I did to you?”
I shook my head sideways, indicating that was not the case.
While Sicar blatantly kills or saves people, Gillian acts like a very nice person in front, pretends to be merciful, and then strikes a dreadful villain from behind.
A villain who uses his head very alertly and does not show his insides, so he’s scary in a different way from Sicar.
“I’m a little worried if I can really look like a duchess.”
‘Because Gillian is not ordinary like you, Sicar.’
Gillian can read a person and situation by looking at their expression, body language, and gestures, even without reading their memories like Sicar. He was that quick and sharp.
Even if I make a little mistake, it was obvious that he would feel something strange, so I couldn’t help but be nervous.
“Whether you do well or not, Gillian suspects everyone anyway. So just relax and do it.”
Well, that’s true. Gillian doesn’t trust anyone but himself.
“Now I need to wake Kian up, and I need your help.”
“Me?”
“As I said, it’s hard for me to infiltrate the royal family’s mental power alone. So, I need your mind that Kian relies on.”
“Hmm. I don’t understand what you’re saying.”
“Come here and give me your hand.”
I cautiously extended my hand to Sicar. And I felt my spirit being sucked away.
‘What, what is this?!’
In the darkness where nothing could be seen, only Sicar’s voice was heard.
“Turn your head.”
When I turned my head, I saw Kian, surrounded by sleep spirits, dozing off comfortably.
“Bica has really loosened the spirits. Go and wake him up without startling him.”
Waking up a child without startling them is as easy as eating a meal.
I gently called Kian’s name and patted his shoulder. Then Kian slowly opened his eyes.
“Mother……?”
When I looked up, Kian seemed to have a good dream and was blinking his eyes. Sicar nodded at me as if saying I did a good job.
“Kian. Did you sleep well?”
Kian rubbed his eyes as if he had just regained consciousness. Once his eyes were fully opened, he discovered that he was nestled in Sicar’s lap, and jumped away, rushing towards me.
Observing this, I wanted to laugh so much that I almost burst out laughing, but I had to hold back.
The most amusing thing was Sicar’s expression, as he was glaring at the back of Kian’s head, seemingly displeased.
“Mother, I guess I’ve slept a lot during the day.”
“Kian, you should greet the Duke now that you’re awake.”
With reluctance, Kian turned towards Sicar and nodded, while Sicar snorted and tilted his head sideways.
“Kian, we will have a guest today.”
“A guest?”
“The King of this country will be visiting us today.”
At the mention of a King, Kian’s eyes widened in surprise.
“Wow! So, the King is coming?”
“Yes. He has agreed to have dinner at our ducal residence. So, there are some things we need to be cautious about.”
“Okay. I will stay calm, not run around or talk loudly, and act like a polite and good child.”
“There are a few more things I would like to ask of you.”
Kian waited for my next words as if asking what those requests were.
“Kian, remember what I said about telling anyone who asks that I am your real mother?”
“Of course. I remember.”
“You absolutely cannot forget.”
Especially not today.
“Yes, I will remember.”
“And this is really important…”
“Yes! Please tell me!”
“Even if His Majesty seems cold, never be rude. You must always be polite. For our family’s sake, understand?”
“Um… Yes. I understand. Mother.”
“Well done, my son.”
Kian is a special child and will be fine if I tell him this much.
[Star Icon][Star Icon][Star Icon]As the evening sunset hung on the horizon and the earth began to blush,
The expected arrival came.
The moment Gillian appeared, it felt as if even the second hand of the clock slowed down, as though everything was moving more slowly.
Gillian, with his dazzling blonde hair and brilliant blue eyes, looked quite imposing.
Seeing him, I felt the reality that Sicar, standing beside me, was the villain’s villain, set to rise above them.
‘I can truly feel that I am in the midst of evil’s lair now.’
Following Gillian was a man who wore a long hood that halfcovered his face. Just by looking at his black figure, I knew that he was Gillian’s wizard, Pasium.
Pasium was just as described in the novel. His face, if it could be called that, was just the black figure itself, as nothing more could be seen.
His elemental, Lape, wasn’t visible, so it seemed that just the two of them came.
“I hope the journey wasn’t too tedious.”
In truth, it wasn’t that far from the Recardor Royal Palace. Sicar’s words were essentially a veiled jab, questioning why Gillian had bothered to come.
In the novel, it was mentioned that Sicar did not fear the king and did not hesitate, but Gillian was said to tolerate Sicar’s arrogance.
However, Gillian now looked quite different from what I knew. Gillian wore a slightly hostile expression.
“You find a stone’s throw distance far, which is regrettable. It seems our relationship has distanced just as much,”
Watching these villains having a standoff right in front of my eyes made the cold sweat run down my spine.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
