Envious and jealous eyes of numerous nobility gathered on me, becoming the wife of a handsome and capable man five years my junior.
Donning a wedding tiara on my short black hair and dressed in a pure white gown, I was the happiest bride… hardly.
As I walked down the virgin road, I barely held onto the arm of my husband who was hiding a knife in his sleeve.
So, I was becoming the wife of a man who threatened to slit my throat if I ran.
The acting of Sicar Blake, who was to become my husband, was better than I thought. He flashed a bright smile at the people and tightly closed his lips as if casting a spell.
“Mind your expression, would you?”
“How about you put down the knife and then talk about managing expressions?”
“That’s difficult. This is the only way to keep a bride who’s only looking for an opportunity to escape.”
A villainous husband who threatens to kill me at every turn, how does it look like I won’t run?
Moreover, even though it’s a contractual marriage, I was to become the wife of a villain who was caught in the whirlwind of history and met a tragic death.

A sense of despair washed over my future.
Chapter 1. The villain discovered that this was a novel (1)
It hasn’t been long since I came to this world.
As a kindergarten teacher, I was sending the children home that day as well.
Amidst the high tension due to frequent school zone accidents, I saw a vehicle violating the signal heading towards a child.
With a sense of duty and determination to protect the child, I instinctively jumped onto the road and embraced the child.
When I opened my eyes, I was here.
I suddenly fell into this novel with absolutely no connection to it and woke up in a shabby alley around the square.
I wasn’t a supporting character in the novel, nor was I an extra.
I simply fell out of the sky into this world as a complete individual named “me”.

The man who is now my husband, Sicar, was a villain who met a cruel death as the novel ended.
It was heartbreaking to hear that he had never laughed since the day he was born when he died in the novel.
With the thought of when I had really laughed heartily, I empathized with the villain’s last words.
Is that why I fell here?
When I landed here barehanded, I really had nothing.
In short, I was a penniless beggar.
As it happened in the winter, I was shivering from the cold and while wandering the streets like a homeless person, I saw people gathering in the square and making a lot of noise.
“Execute the tyrant king!”
“Kill the king!”
Even though it was a language I was hearing for the first time, I could understand everything they were saying, which I found amazing, and I headed towards the gathering.

In the center of the square, on the stage, a man was tied with a rope, sitting down, bleeding here and there from being stoned by the people.
And then another man, dressed in a splendid uniform, walked towards him. The man held a long, sharp sword in his hand.
“It’s Duke Sicar Blake!!”
“Duke Sicar Blake, please execute the fallen king who has ruined the kingdom!!”
The moment I heard that name, I was certain that this place was the novel world I had been reading.
Sicar Blake was a terrifying character with the ability to read people’s memories just by touching them. He was a villain who dethroned the fallen king and enthroned a new one.
Looking at the situation, it seemed like today was the day the fallen king was being executed.
That meant that the novel was starting now.
At that moment, I remembered a vacant house where I could stay for a while.
Feeling so cold and hungry that I might collapse on the spot, I barely managed to reach Mount Hill, a little far from the city.

Mount Hill was a small village in the Blake territory, where there was a small farmhouse where the protagonist would temporarily stay.
The house was vacant as it was originally set up as a place where the protagonist stayed when she was young.
It was the safest place to stay for a while.
The house was as if it was preparing to meet the protagonist, with enough food and firewood. The food in the kitchen was so fresh that it was as if they had just come back from shopping.
‘Because this is a house for the protagonist, everything is preserved in a fresh state.’
Even though I was hungry, I was so tired from the cold that I started a fire in the fireplace first.
In the biting cold that made my teeth chatter, I sat in front of the fireplace without moving until my body melted.
Once some warmth returned, only then did a deep hunger begin to gnaw at me.
Feeling somewhat sorry to consume the food prepared for the protagonist, I first asked for permission, muttering quietly before gulping down the milk on the kitchen shelf.
“I’ll just eat a little.”

As the protagonist was about to return in about a week, I had to find a monastery where I could stay in the meantime.
The monasteries in this world fed and sheltered those who had nowhere else to go, making it the only place I could go.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
