Recently, I’ve been feeling that the Duke of Perdia is paying attention to me.

Whether it’s the feast of leeks unfolding right in front of me or the incidents where he immediately accepted my requests, those were behaviors the former duke would never have done.

I would have preferred to let it pass like this, but Yancy, being a perfectionist, seemed not to agree.

“Even if it’s later, if the Huang family finds out that Lili has manifested her ability, it could cause a problem, Father.”

“I don’t care what those Huang bastards say.”

Although it was a potentially problematic remark since the subject was the Huang family, the Duke of Perdia, being the speaker, did not sound arrogant at all. It seemed completely natural.

Yancy, who usually never opposes his father’s intentions, was unusually persistent today.

“But, it might be better to prevent any problems from arising in the first place.”

“Yancy Perdia.”

“……. ”

“Who dares to threaten my daughter?”

After hesitating for a moment, Yancy, who had been reluctant, suddenly smiled lightly and responded.

“……Father is right.”

Yancy, seemingly unable to convince any further, withdrew.

However, this time, Charlotte started grumbling.

“Ugh, what a waste. Those who were blabbering nonsense about our lady should shut their mouths once they find out she has an ability.”

“Well, who are they, little brother?”

When the Duchess asked gracefully, Charlotte suddenly became excited.

“Well, aren’t there? Doro, Doro something. Anyway, a female member of the Angelos family. That bunch was particularly noisy!”

“Dorothea, Charlotte.”

Although Yancy corrected the name in a calm manner, Charlotte stubbornly maintained his indifferent attitude.

“What do I care about names, geez.”

Even if he acts like that, not knowing the name of the only direct female member among the four major families seems a bit extreme, Charlotte.

If Dorothea heard this conversation, she might have felt unfairly treated and spent several sleepless nights.

As if remembering something when Dorothea’s name came up, Yancy spoke.

“Come to think of it, Dorothea Angelos took charge of this year’s founding ceremony, I heard.”

“I heard it too. When I went to the gathering, Dolcinea boasted so much about my daughter.”

As the wife frowned, seemingly annoyed, Charlotte interrupted.

“Pretending to eat what you threw away because my sister didn’t want to do it. Right, sister?”

Charlotte looked at me with sparkling eyes, as if seeking praise. Avoiding that burdensome gaze, I answered.

“Doing what you want is better than doing what you don’t want.”

“Lili, aren’t you too kind? Should I knock down the altar once for you? Then Doro, whatever, would be embarrassed [Dash].”

That’s when it happened.

“Charlotte.”

The Duchess interrupted Charlotte’s words. I thought she might be scolding him for openly talking about causing trouble in front of the family, but that wasn’t the case.

“If you’re going to do it, do it behind the scenes. Secretly. Isn’t that the way of Perdia?”

‘What exactly are you teaching the kid….’
Whenever I see it, Perdia’s family education style is harsh. It wasn’t for nothing that they were known as a villainous family.

“Do you find it boring to do things behind the scenes?… You can’t see the pathetic expressions!”

“It’s more fun to leave only lingering doubts and remove the evidence, Karl. Isn’t it exhilarating to see someone constantly doubting whether my suspicions are true or not?”

“……I understand.”

The wife, who was educating Charlotte somewhat sternly, turned to me and said.

“Lily. If someone bothers you, speak up.”

The Duchess seemed confident that she would take care of it from behind, no matter who I mentioned.

But this intimate family dinner, where they cared for me so much, felt awkward and uncomfortable, as if I were really part of the family.

I appreciate the concern, but someday I’ll leave Perdia.

“Yes. Thank you, Madam.”

I couldn’t ignore the wife’s consideration, so all I could do was express my gratitude.

Although it was a feast of leeks, the plates were quickly emptied, thanks to the excellent skills of the chef.

I discreetly glanced at the Duke of Perdia, trying to gauge his mood.

“Uh, Father.”

“Yes.”

“I would like to return to the annex now [Dash].”

The Duke of Perdia responded firmly, cutting off my words.

“The annex is under renovation, so it’s not possible.”

“What? Renovation?”

Suddenly?

But I had never heard from Masa, who goes to the annex every night, about any renovations.

Before I could ask more, the Duke of Perdia stood up.

“It will take a long time, so be aware of that.”

“Yes?”

Without a word of greeting, the Duke left the dining room. As I looked disappointedly at the entrance where the Duke disappeared, the wife chuckled softly.

“You’re really not honest. You could have just said you were worried about leaving you in the annex.”

“Is that so…….”

Responding hesitantly, Charlotte cheerfully shouted.

“I think it’s better for my sister to stay in the main mansion. We can see her more often!”

Enough, stop it.

When male lead is the homewrecker

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!

The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.

Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.

The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.

I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.

There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.

For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.

I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.

Here’s the story synopsis:

One-line summary: She is his lifelong obsession, to the point where he was willing to be a third wheel, scorned by society, just to wedge his way into her relationship with her fiancé.

Cold-hearted and indifferent female lead + Scheming and subservient CEO male lead

Intro 1:

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

With blood trickling from his clenched fist, Rong Xiu gazed at the woman before him, his eyes clouded with anguish. Hidden in the wardrobe, he had witnessed Fan Xia – the woman he desperately loved – in an intimate embrace with her fiancé. Yet his heart still yearned for her, defying all reason.

Fan Xia, the elegant and composed assistant, carried something mysterious in her eyes whenever she looked at her fiancé, Wen Lan Sheng. Strange occurrences began to surface – secret meetings with the young Gu Jin Yi, an unexplained withdrawal of 5,000 yuan… Then suddenly, her fiancé’s sister, Wen Jing, violently attacked her.

In this matriarchal society, Rong Xiu had risen to become the chairman of a powerful healthcare conglomerate, breaking through gender prejudices. But for the first time, he willingly stepped into the shadows as the other man, disregarding his friends’ warnings to become her secret lover.

Because he had discovered the truth – Fan Xia wasn’t the pure angel everyone believed her to be. And perhaps, he was the only one capable of helping her execute her mysterious plan…

Intro 2:

Rong Xiu’s biggest regret in life was missing out on Fan Xia.

He secretly loved Fan Xia for 7 years.

Watched her go public with her boyfriend.

Watched her kiss her boyfriend at their wedding.

Until that man blissfully nestled in Fan Xia’s arms, obtaining everything he could only dream of.

The crazy jealousy stripped away his hidden secret love, layer by layer, burning like wildfire.

Fan Xia, how can I have you!
