Lowell crept into the laboratory like a cat gingerly dipping its paws into water. Part of it was caution—there might be more security devices—but mostly, she was unconsciously overwhelmed by the sight before her.

‘I was told Lord Noah was conducting research alone.’

René’s claim that Peter had suffered from magical energy abnormalities as a child was true. Lowell stopped walking and read one of the papers pinned to the wall. It summarized basic information about the origin of the von der Leyen family’s magical affliction.

For an ordinary person, imbalance between magic and the body was dangerous enough. But the von der Leyen imperial family carried dragon blood.

Their magic was inherited directly from dragons. Naturally, their bodies were far superior to those of commoners—but even so, they could never compare to actual dragons. Thus, imbalance was unavoidable.

If one carried a strong dragon lineage, their body would also be significantly stronger than that of an ordinary person, matching their magical capacity.

‘But Peter is a mutant.’

Born with diluted dragon blood, his body was only slightly better than an average human’s, yet his magic was so immense it became unbearable.
