“…It’s showing it properly?”
“Yes!”
But what I see is… my own face?
‘Maybe what I see and what Maria sees are different.’
It was a moment when I tried to convince myself with that thought.
“My ideal type is Lady Louibel!”
Maria shouted with her hands clasped together in a praying-like manner.
“Heek!”
I couldn’t help but let out a surprised sound.
“No, no!”
“Yes…?”
“Think again, Maria. Your ideal type seems to be distorted!”
I grabbed Maria, who was giggling, shook her, and shouted.
“Your ideal type is not me!”
Certainly, Maria’s ideal type seen in the original work was a handsome man with sparkling blond hair and refreshing green eyes, with a soft and gentle impression.
“For a very long time, my ideal type has been someone with a spring-like appearance and a lovely atmosphere.”
Maria said firmly and cleanly.
‘Ah…’
I sighed silently.
A ominous premonition that I had been feeling since arriving in Runeheart swept over me.
‘Is it my fate to become Maria’s lover instead of Hagen, like this…?’
In the meantime, Ilay walked toward the basin.
Ilay, who was short in stature, raised her head with tiptoed feet.
Then, the clear water in the basin rippled lightly, and once again, my face was reflected.
“Look at this! It’s my face again!”
I shouted abruptly, pointing at it.
“Indeed, it’s broken! No doubt about it!”
“Pia, do you want to see it too?”
Then, with curiosity, Pia pushed Ilay aside and stood in front of the basin. Pia, who was shorter than Ilay, had to hop to see, and I unknowingly flapped my arms like wings, but naturally, I couldn’t fly. Seeing that, Anselot grabbed Pia’s backside firmly, raising it. In an instant, Pia’s view height increased, and a giant and majestic male eagle appeared above the basin.
“No, why an eagle.”
The priest who managed the basin murmured in confusion.
“Seems like something’s wrong.”
“It did seem a bit strange!”
The priest examined the basin carefully, and Claus added a word, stating that there was undoubtedly an issue. However, looking at the magnificent eagle, I was convinced that it was indeed Pia’s ideal type.
‘…What should I do? It seems like that thing is broken.’
I don’t know why my face is reflected as Ilay’s ideal type, but the eagle is undoubtedly Maria’s ideal type!
“Oh, even the pig-bird has an ideal type.”
“Let go of this, Anselot!”
When Anselot teased with a mischievous smile, Pia kicked Anselot’s shin with her short legs.
“Ugh.”
Due to that, Anselot let go of Pia.
“Pig-bird, you…”
Anselot, who let out a feeble groan, glared fiercely at Pia.
Seizing the opportunity, Pia stuck out her tongue and escaped.
“How about you, Lady Louibel, checking it out too?”
Maria chuckled and coaxed me.
Shocked by the fact that her ideal type was really me, I stood weakly in front of the basin.
‘What’s my ideal type…’
It’s probably Haezen after all.
Because of that player, it turned into a bad memory, but the ‘real Haezen’ from the original work is my favorite character in the novel I like the most…
‘Huh?’
Seeing the face emerging above the rippling water, I was surprised.
‘Ah, why is Anselot…!’
I anxiously glanced around.
Fortunately, Anselot was busy grabbing Pia and didn’t look in this direction.
However, Claus and Maria standing on either side of me might have seen Anselot on the basin.
But they didn’t seem to think it was strange.
“As expected, Lady Louibel seems to have high standards.”
Maria even seemed to be in a slightly good mood.
‘Well, both of them think I’m Anselot’s lover…’
My heart pounded.
It felt like I had openly revealed my inner thoughts.
‘What’s this? Why Anselot…’
When I turned around, I saw Anselot dragging Pia towards me.
‘I’ve never thought of Anselot in that way…’
Then, our eyes met in an instant. I felt a surge of heat rising above my face, turning it bright red.
“Your Highness?”
Anselot called me with a puzzled voice.
“W-what if you drag P-Pia like that!”
Unconsciously, I blurted out whatever came to my mind and quickly stepped aside before Anselot arrived.
The water that reflected his face returned to being transparent and clear.
“Your Highness, didn’t you see it earlier? This pig bird was first…”
“Who are you calling a pig bird! Let go of this!”
It was when Anselot just stood next to me.
The water in the basin in front of him bubbled and shook.
Unintentionally, my eyes moved in that direction.
A vague figure floated above it.
‘Silhouette…?’
Unlike before when a clear face of the ideal type was shown, what was reflected in the basin was a blurry silhouette that couldn’t be recognized.
And precisely at that moment.
Crash!
With a loud noise, the basin overturned onto the floor. It was a sudden accident without a single gust of wind.
Because of that, I couldn’t see.
The face of the woman in the basin, which was gradually becoming clear.
‘It must be her, right?’
I thought of Anselot in the dream forest, embracing the black figure and shedding tears.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
