“Then why didn’t you reveal this fact? If you had exposed that the king’s children were sending assassins…”
“It’s not worth the effort to bother with such matters.”
Anselot answered in a calm voice.
“After all, the king is on his children’s side, and no one would believe me anyway.”
His composed response left me unable to add more, so I offered some consolation.
“Must have been tough for you.”
“Not really. Despite the rumors, the king knows what his children are up to. That’s why he doesn’t interfere with whatever I do in the palace.”
Anselot replied nonchalantly, glancing back at me.
“But more importantly.”
He scrutinized my face, his eyes twitching slightly. Frowning, Anselot wiped my cheek with his handkerchief.
“Ah, it’s not coming off cleanly.”
He grumbled in annoyance. Apparently, some blood had splattered on my face from the earlier incident.
“What to do? The princess’s beautiful face is all dirty now.”
“…”
I stared at him as he spoke.
Then, without realizing, I blurted out a question.
“Do you always say such things so easily?”
“?”
“Like calling someone pretty, don’t you say it too easily?”
Taken aback by my sudden question, Anselot blinked at me. I averted his gaze and added in a small voice.
“…We’re nothing to each other.”
Anselot responded with a puzzled tone.
“Do you have to be something special to say such things?”
“Did you say such things to her too, so easily?”
Pause.
Anselot hesitated to answer my question, lost in thought. Annoyed by his habitually playful comments causing me unease, I asked impulsively.
Realizing what I had said, I wondered if it was unnecessary. But then…
“…Indeed.”
He spoke after a short pause.
“I never said such things to her.”
Anselot murmured sadly and then smiled slyly at me.
“So don’t be jealous, princess.”
In an instant, I felt exposed and my face turned bright red.
“Jealous?”
“Weren’t you jealous?”
“No!”
“Our relationship wasn’t deep enough for jealousy.”
“I said it’s not jealousy!”
Admittedly, I did compare myself to her a little bit. And I felt a pang of resentment comparing myself to her.
But it wasn’t jealousy!
Why would I be jealous over Anselot?
“Why would I be jealous over you!”
“Can’t you be just a little jealous? It’s disappointing.”
“Mi…”
Swoosh.
Just as I was about to retort, Anselot gave me a beautiful, incredibly charming smile.
So much so that the words I was about to say retreated, only to come out delayed.
“…Don’t, talk, nonsense!”
My voice cracked awkwardly.
Anselot burst into joyful laughter.
I looked at him with a slightly reproachful gaze.
“You really enjoy teasing me the most in the world, don’t you?”
“Wow. How did you know?”
“…”
Suppressing my bubbling emotions, Anselot chuckled.
“Just kidding.”
He teasingly added to my glowering look.
“It’s not the most fun. It’s the second most fun.”
“What’s the first then?”
I asked, eyes narrowed in irritation.
“The first? Well,”
Anselot glanced at me and replied with a contented twinkle in his eyes.
“It’s a secret.”
“Sure is a lot of secrets.”
I pouted and grumbled.
Then I remembered him evading my question before.
‘…Why do you want to kill the mad dragon?’
‘Hmm. Secret.’
“Hey, Anselot. About that time you said you had to kill the mad dragon… Was that also because of her?”
I hesitated before asking cautiously.
Anselot exclaimed, “Oh.”
“You’re fixated on me, aren’t you?”
He playfully twinkled his eyes and said, “How did you know my ideal type is a woman who is fixated on me?”
Just when I mustered the courage to ask him something serious, and he was about to brush it off with a joke, my eyes narrowed.
“Hmm.”
Anselot slightly withdrew his smile.
“If I were to tell only the princess,” he said, tilting his head towards me.
“It’s half true, half not.”
“……?”
Confused by his ambiguous answer, I blinked.
“At first… yes. I was determined to carve out the heart of Helheim because of her. But as time passed, I forgot everything.”
“…….?”
“One day, I couldn’t remember anything about her. Her face, her name, the last moments…”
“…….”
“That’s how I completely lost her.”
“Uh…”
Having heard his response, I didn’t know what to say and just let out a dumbfounded “Uh…”
“So, I was left with only the purpose of killing Helheim, without remembering why.”
Anselot slowly raised his head, which had been tilted towards me, and looked somewhere into the dark night sky, murmuring.
“But recently, I found what I had lost.”
“In the fog?”
“Indeed, our princess is smart.”
Anselot smiled and nodded. His constant teasing made this compliment sound like an insult.
“Strangely, only her face remains blurry.”
Perhaps it was a long-forgotten connection, so distant it had become hazy.
“Now, my resolve to kill Helheim is even stronger.”
“……I see.”
I responded briefly and nodded.
Standing next to Anselot, I looked in the same direction he was gazing.
The night was dark, and though there were distant lights and music, only warm air circled around us.
My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband
This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.
The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.
They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.
In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.
When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.
She makes his life a living hell.
And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.
Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!
Intro
Dong Xia lost her memory.
Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.
Notes:
1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.
