Having arrived at the mansion, Leah absentmindedly touched her neck, as if lost in deep thought. Her fingertips brushed against an old key-shaped pendant embedded with a red gemstone.

It had become a habit of hers to fiddle with the necklace whenever she was deep in thought. Though the Emperor had clearly said it was nothing to worry about, his words kept circling in her mind.

[How strange. I feel as though I’ve definitely seen you before.]

She had sensed a change in the Emperor’s gaze as he looked at her unintentionally. Was it merely her imagination that he seemed to recognize her?

Just then, an inexplicable unease lingered in Leah’s heart.

“What are you thinking about so deeply?”

At the sudden low voice, Leah lifted her head. Akia was staring at her, his chin resting on the windowsill.

“No, it’s nothing…”

Yet, contrary to her words, Leah’s eyes were clouded with worry.

‘Bialitskal, of all places.’

Bialitskal, located at the very northern edge of the realm, was so cool that even in midsummer people wore long-sleeved clothing.

Moreover, it was a place one could only reach after a full ten days of carriage travel from the capital.

The Duke was leaving for such a distant place—and Akia had just replied he would pack lightly and depart tomorrow.

The antidote for the side effects wasn’t even finished yet. Leah felt uneasy at the thought of letting the Duke go alone like this.

“Your Grace, so you’ll be leaving for Bialitskal right away?”
