“S-Sanzoin was in the supplements?”

Jane’s voice, as she repeated my words back to me, trembled violently. Leah smiled gently, her eyes curving softly.

“Yes. I added it because it’s good for insomnia. Many servants in the mansion have been complaining about sleeplessness.”

Of course, the claim that Sanzoin was included was a blatant lie. How could she possibly have added an Eastern medicinal herb—so rare and difficult to obtain—into a supplement?

But Jane, utterly ignorant of herbalism, had no choice but to believe this outrageous falsehood. After all, she had been the one who eagerly purchased the supplements when they were first sold.

‘Who in the world would gamble with their life?’

Leah vividly recalled Jane gulping down the supplement right before her eyes. If poison truly had been slipped into the food, Jane wouldn’t have been able to sense it.

Because the herbs Jane had stolen would turn toxic even with a trace amount of Sanzoin.

‘If Jane has been taking those supplements regularly…’

That toxicity would be nearly lethal. By now, the spoon in Jane’s hand trembled violently.

And soon, unable to withstand the shaking, the spoon clattered to the floor. Seeing this, Leah slowly lifted the corners of her lips.
