Leah slowly awoke from her recollection. Having grown up in an orphanage, Leah began experiencing unfamiliar memories from the age of eight.

A world filled with tall buildings and strange objects—that was the memory of her past life, Yoon-ji’s. At first, Leah thought it odd that she kept having such strange dreams.

But once she realized these were memories from a previous life, many aspects of her existence changed. Leah had no desire to repeat the lonely life she’d lived before.

From then on, she was able to accept the orphanage family as her own.

[“Leah, I brought you in when you were just a newborn, crying in front of the orphanage. You were covered in blood. There must have been some story behind it…”]

[“So I was abandoned right after birth? Why would they do that?”]

And when she grew older and heard the full story from the Director, Leah remained composed even then.

‘Because it wasn’t the first time I’d been abandoned by my parents.’

Leah fiddled with the necklace she could feel beneath her dress. The pendant, set with a red ruby, was the only proof that she, too, had once had a family.

It would be a lie to say she didn’t resent the parents who abandoned her. Even after reincarnation, the fact that she remained a solitary orphan constantly tormented Leah.

Yet Leah had emptied even that painful emotion.

‘There must have been a good reason.’

She had emptied her resentment simply to endure. Now that she’d let go, Leah found herself with more inner peace than in her past life.

After all, family didn’t have to be blood relatives. The orphanage family was precious to her, too.
