Lea’s heart sank in response to the cold gaze that ensnared her.

‘Could it be.’

She clenched her trembling hand, shaking like a quaking aspen. The red eyes she knew belonged to just one person.

A person who had a strong grip on her wrist, too firm to be deemed frail. And the distant floral scent that radiated from him.

“……Count?”

Was it because of her heightened tension? She mumbled in a voice hoarse with nervousness.

However, the pair of eyes staring at her offered no answer to her desperate query. They merely watched her, as cold as frost in deep winter.

A heavy silence blanketed the space between the two. Around the time she thought even the thumping of her heart was eerie.

A silhouette concealed in darkness was fully revealed under the moonlight streaming through the gaps in the stone wall.

‘Ah.’

The moment her vague suspicions turned into conviction, the man began to slowly approach the petrified Lea.

[Dash] Trudge, trudge.

Neither slow nor fast, but with every step he took, her heart tightened rapidly.

Lea, who was stepping backward in a struggle to survive, hit the cold wall.

As if she could no longer escape.

“You seem to be unlucky.”

Then, a deep baritone voice wrapped around Lea’s ear.

“Or do you have good intuition?”

Lea looked at the man with trembling eyes.

“How did you know to come here?”

“I, I just happened to…….”

“Just happened to.”

As if amused by her response, he let out a chuckle.

“Then let’s say you were just unlucky.”

A red warning alarm signaling danger echoed in Lea’s mind.

“Why are you trembling?”

Despite his gentle question, Lea couldn’t stop her trembling shoulders. It was none other than Count Heidern, who was speaking now.

“H, how can you speak…….”

He was the Count who reportedly couldn’t speak and communicated through writing on paper. Lea’s hands on the desk shook even more.

Such oppressive aura, almost making it hard to breathe, seemed to swallow her up.

“Are you trembling because I can speak? Or is it.”

The man, who had approached close by now, extended his hand towards Lea. He then brushed her red hair that reached down to her chest.

“What’s the nature of the medicine you’re holding?”

The man looked down at the medicine bottle Lea was holding. She gripped it tightly.

The nature of this medicine, which had become a poison with the inclusion of Winterbells.

“Porarium.”

As if reading Lea’s thoughts, he continued speaking with a languid smile.

“A poisonous mixture made by combining Winterbells with Acapodium. If consumed in large quantities, it’s lethal, but when taken in small doses, it weakens the body, like one is suffering from a cold.”

The count, who was always critically ill, the illfated prince.

‘Has he been frail since birth?’

No. Her contemplation was brief. Lea bit her lips as if all puzzle pieces had finally come together. She felt a throbbing headache as if someone had hit the back of her head.

‘The Count has been taking that medicine…….’

“I made it.”

He continued speaking, curling one corner of his lips upwards.

“And I consumed it myself.”

The Count snatched the medicine bottle from Lea’s grasp. Then, without any hesitation, he gulped down the medicine in the bottle.

Lea, who was watching him, couldn’t close her wideopen mouth.

Her mind was filled with question marks at the sight of the Count drinking the poison as if it were a nutritional supplement.

‘Why, why would he do such a thing…….’

Count Heidern had been taking this poison, deliberately weakening himself.
While the poison wasn’t lethal in small amounts, it was undoubtedly damaging to one’s health.

Moreover, judging by the Count’s symptoms, it didn’t seem like he had only ingested the poison for a day or two. His illness was severe, suggesting a long period of usage.

What could the most distinguished man in the empire possibly want to gain, doing this to himself?

“What is it you hope to gain, to go this far…?”

“You could die.”

“I know.”

“Why then, knowing this…”

Why would the Count risk his life like this? Count Heidern leaned closer to Lea, his torso bent towards her.

His eyes, intensely red as he stared at Lea from close range, were terrifying. He observed her for a moment before speaking.

“I see no need to explain further.”

His fingers, now close to her face, traced down her cheek.

“You’re going to die here today.”

Damn. Lea let out a small sigh.

Why were her bad premonitions always right?

‘Should’ve run when I had the chance.’

She had discovered the Count’s secret that he had hidden for over a decade, in the most absurd way possible.

Lea swallowed hard, the chill running down her spine.

At the same time, his hand, which had been caressing her face, began to descend. He aimed to cut off her airway.

‘I will die if I stay like this.’

Her heart pounded against her chest, a reaction to the murderous intent in the Count’s gaze. As his cold hand touched her neck, she clenched her eyes shut.

My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband

This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.

The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.

They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.

In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.

When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.

She makes his life a living hell.

And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.

Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!

Intro

Dong Xia lost her memory.

Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”

Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.

…

The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.

She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.

Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.

No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!

Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂

*

Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.

The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.

In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.

The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.

And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.

Notes:

1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.

2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
